Conn. Town Can't Hold Graduations in Church, Judge Rules (To keep separation of liberals and church)
Fox News ^ | 5-31-10

Posted on 06/01/2010 5:36:47 PM PDT by ulster

The Enfield school board says it voted to hold services June 23 and 24 at The First Cathedral in Bloomfield because it had enough space at the right price. But two students and three of their parents sued.

The judge says Enfield had unconstitutionally entangled itself with religion by agreeing to cover much of the church's religious imagery. She also says the town coerced the plaintiffs to support religion by forcing them to enter the church for graduation.

It's time to stand up to these freaks by acting like the illegals in this country and the Palestinians-- and that is-- we should just go about our business and stick it right in their faces. They can't control all of us 100% of the time. We can overload their "judicial" system and shut it down like an oil leak.

Ok, just looked at my ballot for June this year, the voting booth at “a church” building. Do these people refuse to vote?
The school should just ignore the court.

I guess they haven’t been in one to know neither they nor the church will be damaged... and THEY might benefit!

I had two college graduations, one for my BS and one for the MS. I went to neither: I’d paid my way and saw no particular reason to waste any more time.

I did have to attend my HS graduation, though. Children have to be lead.

The how, whys and wheres didn’t matter.

But then, I’m not a lib.

We need to sue to get Global Warming/Cooling/Climate Change declared a religion, so that we don’t have to be exposed to their dogma anymore.

I’m pretty sure that most liberal DemocRATS are terrified of going into a church. Especially after what happened to their own “messiah” in Elwood yesterday.

Same here, in California even, I always vote at a church. They also rent out school buildings to churches to use for services. Don’t we have the same stupid judges and lawsuits and idiots every year. It’s always no prayer at graduation, no Christmas nativity type stuff and....aarrrrrgghhhhh!!!!!!!

It never ends.....they never stop!

For the most part the ACLU has forced the traditional baccalaureate service out of the public school related graduation process and into the larger churches in an area.

In Fairfax County the baccalaureate services are usually held in Catholic churches.

I think the judge in this case should have been informed of earlier ACLU nonsense and the handling of the baccalaureate services.

In the long run we must force the government out of the schools.

I live in a small NH town where the Meeting House is shared by the Congregational Church and the Town. 250 years ago there was no distinction made between church and town. Since around 1830 though, as a result of state law, an accommodation has had to be made.

The church has the sanctuary upstairs, the town has the meeting room downstairs, expenses for upkeep and repairs are split and somehow it all works out.

Wouldn't take much to upset the apple cart though. Usually the church ends up saying 'screw it' when some crazy ADA demand results in an unreasonable demand for funds. The town tax payers end up with the bill. The church moves into a double wide trailer somewhere and saves a bundle.

Same here in PA, a Reformation Lutheran church has been our voting place for decades (even when there is a nearby all-loony, all the time, liberal Unitarian church). Doesn’t seem to stop the libtards from voting (sigh).

More insanity from rabid judges whose false foundation of understanding is the ACLU and the "separation of church and state" which never existed. The problem is that when all mention and hint of God is thrown into the closet, human civilization falls into depravity and lawlessness. Which we see accelerating quickly. Belief in God with His laws as enacted in the world's religions is the only solid foundation of human civilization. We are now witnessing the destruction of human civilization.

I am convinced that it will turn around, but people have to really see what the alternative is, and wake up. More are doing so, IMO.

So two or three people get to dictate what everyone else does?

How about the rest of the parents boycott the graduation and have their own private one in the church anyway?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Considering the type of person who'd complain about something like this, yeah probably.

Or maybe it has more to do with their reaction to being confronted with a cross or crucifix.

Schools in NY have been known for hold their AP tests in churches because it’s a neutral location.

I wonder where the parents would be complaining about that.
