BP should just walk away and publicly announce that it’s Obama’s baby now. See how the politics of that one works out.
And take all their equipment everywhere in the US so the great Zero cannot impound or confiscate it for use by the government. Immediately load it all on their ships and go Bye-Bye. Also close all offices, definitely close all oil wells now pumping or drilling in the US (including Alaska), stop shipping oil to the US except for cash in advance and double the market price. Repatriate all non-US citizens back to the UK. And then buy one big billboard in Times Square giving the finger to Zero and his henchmen.

If I’m BP, I look at all my legal obligations, and then move my operations out of the U.S., and say “to hell with you”, we will focus on drilling elsewhere and make a transition to selling oil to the Chinese. Like filing for bankruptcy, just say “sorry, there’s nothing we can do, we’re done, have fun plugging the hole, daddy”.
This is what's happening whether he likes it or not. Two people I adore who are (not party-line) Democrats both said that they thought, at this point, this was now Bobo's "fault", and that they would not be voting for him in 2012, plain and simple.
Not that I could get them to vote for Palin (it's a state she'll carry anyway) but that Bobo has "greatly disappointed" them. I could hardly contain my glee -- which was immediately tempered with my love of the Gulf Coast and the people there.
