HAIFA, Israel - Israeli Navy commandos attacked at least one of the six ships carrying pro-Palestinian activists and aid for blockaded Gaza, killing 10 and wounding several dozen on board, according to an Israeli TV network and a lawyer for the activists' group.
Channel 10 said the final death toll could be higher as Navy commandos who boarded the convoy were still conducting searches and encountering often violent resistance from pro-Palestinian activists. Responding to accusations that Israeli commandos assaulted the ships guns blazing, Israel's Army Radio later said that passengers had tried to grab weapons away from soldiers boarding the flotilla.
The al-Jazeera satellite channel reported by telephone from the Turkish ship leading the flotilla that Israeli Navy forces fired at the ship and boarded it, wounding the captain.
The Turkish NTV network also reported an Israeli takeover with gunfire, and that at least 30 activists were wounded.

“The United States deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries sustained, and is currently working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy,” White House spokesman Bill Burton told reporters.
They probably thought the Israelis would do something like what they did. The people on the left don't care at all about the lives they lost. They'll be "martyrs" now which is probably what the leaders were hoping for.
ML/NJ
Reminds me of the USS Liberty
I sure hope so.
Traitors one and all.
Any members of this corrupt Congress or this Thug Regime sympathetic to the enemies of America on board? I can think of many we could name.
GOOD FOR THEM!
WH visit reportedly cancelled by Bibi.
I’m a strong supporter of Israel, but WTF? Israel did exactly what the flotilla leaders hoped they would do.
We need to contact our members of congress (although they haven't heard anything we have said thus far) and tell them that America has always stood by Israel and that Israel is our ally. What a bunch of turncoats we have in congress now.
This is on the Captain of the ship. He knew that trying to run a military naval blockade would put the lives of his passengers at risk. Let them sue the Captain and the ship owners for compensation. The Israelis did what they had to do.
This story is crap. Not what happened at all.
Turncoats is way too kind for the enemies within our government today. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves along with our heroes in Arlington.
The arrogant political hacks in this Regime and this Congress make my skin crawl. How about you?
Enemies within this government = enemies of America and enemies of freedom. Behold the hopeful dictators who want total control over your life and death.
Netanyahu has canceled the visit to the WH in the wake of this incident.
The stories of the casualties are all suspect due to the sources.
No, the casualties did happen. But it isn't as if Israel merely attacked the Pali-lovers aboard the ship The fact is that this flotilla story had been all over the news for days. All the parties knew of Israel's blockade policy and Israel had given ample warning of what it would do should the "activists" proceed with their plans. The Pali-lovers deliberately and violently resisted the Israeli troops who intercepted them, and the Israelis had no choice but to use lethal force to protect themselves.
Sin-theeee-Ahhhhhh...Mic-Krazy? I was just thinkng the same way.
Put down the bong.
I think she was at the black supremist convention this weekend. (blech)
Cynthia McKinney, too.
I hope she was a casualty - preferably a fatality.
Yes, and they had already planned to resist violently.
I was just reviewing some of the stories about the Pali-lovers' flotilla from the past few days.
The Hamas leader in Gaza had proclaimed that it didn't matter whither the flotilla arrived in Gaza or it was intercepted by Israel. "Either way we win," he was quoted as saying.
Put down the bong.
You seem to be a Kool Aid drinker.
