VENICE, La., May 27 (Reuters) - BP (BP.L)'s "top kill" operation to try to plug its leaking Gulf of Mexico oil well is still ongoing, U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen said on Thursday.

"They're still pumping mud into the wellbore and they're still monitoring it ... it is ongoing," Allen, who is leading the oil spill response operation, told reporters in Venice, Louisiana.

Obama claimed credit when it looked to be working, so he gets a big fat, well deserved, "Top Kill Failed - Obama's fault"
Reuters needs to keep up. They stopped it hours ago. It failed. They will have to start over again.
Stopped pumping at 11 pm last night, in fact...
One lovely nasty mess. Best they could do was reduce the flow, not lower it enough to stop the leaking...
Yet there were media reports earlier today saying that the "Top Shot" had worked in stopping the oil leak.
I wonder if 0bama knew of this failure which occurred some 14 hours before his botched press conference. If he did, he most certainly was not truthful or "transparent" in stating that "Top Shot #1" still had a chance of success.
