Barack Obama assured the American people that "nothing improper took place" with regard to claims by Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA.) that the Obama administration offered him a government job if he would drop out of the Pennsylvania primary race with Sen. Arlen Specter.
Obama also said a White House report about the allegations would be coming "soon".
"Not months or weeks," he said.
Democrats and Republicans have raised questions about what could be a serious violation of federal law, or even an impeachable offense, if Sestak was indeed offered a bribe of a federal job.
Obama made his comments in response to a question by Fox News' Major Garrett at today's press conference.
Obama declined to get into specifics, deferring to the "soon" to be released White House report.

I’m sure this will be followed by a “major speech” by 0bama on “The Need to Trust the President During a Crisis.”

Here’s a thought - if this thing really takes off, would it be better for the Democrat-controlled Congress to push for impeachment hearings before the November elections? They would have a better chance of getting a “not guilty” verdict and Obama could continue as pResident (at least until 2012). If they wait until the Republicans take back the Congress, then Obama could be found guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. Another “unprecedented” moment!

A report will be coming out soon. If he did nothing wrong, he should have denied it now and called Sestak a liar. Trying to halfway it is soooo unconvincing.

Secy of the Navy is a civilian position, not a member of JCS (uniformed military).

Oops! My bad. That’s what I get for relying on memory from history class. Was a cabinet level position until being moved under SecDef.
Anyway, high enough that Dumb0 would have had to have OK’d it.

Sestak obviously went public to show how corrupt Spector is, since we all know Spector was the one behind this. HOWEVER, I don’t think he thought the whole thing through, because if Obama go down, he go down.

You’re right. But amazing that Sestak didn’t foresee that the tar baby he created would stick to a lot more than Spector.
