Public opinion turning against Obama on oil spill

In the five weeks since an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig sent hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico, Obama had largely escaped political fallout. But as BP attempts yet again to seal the leak, a new USA Today/Gallup Poll finds a majority of Americans unhappy with Obama's handling of the spill. According to the poll, 53 percent rate Obama's handling "poor" or "very poor"; 43 percent believe Obama is doing a good job.

Yet the poll also finds that the public tends to blame others in the mess more than it blames the White House. Asked broadly about the federal government's role, 60 percent rated the response "poor." BP got the lowest marks: 73 percent of Americans gave the company's handling of the spill a "poor" rating. Still, a whopping 68 percent say BP should remain in charge of the cleanup.

Yet the poll also finds that the public tends to blame others in the mess more than it blames the White House. Asked broadly about the federal government's role, 60 percent rated the response "poor."

And who's in charge of the federal government right now?

What’s amazing is people haven’t figured out there is two parts to this spill. One is stop the leak, actually the easy part, but the other as spelled out in 1990 OPA is to contain and cleanup the mess.

We are all focused on the leak, while the resources to contain and cleanup, as Jindal is saying, are sadly lacking.

And who was it that was supposed to store and maintain that equipment for “immediate deployment” — Why that would be the Obama-Speak class of clowns. Yes there is already a tax fund to pay for this, the oil comapnies pay so much per barrel for the spill containment and protection supplies. Yes the Democrats now want to 4x the fund, because very likely the Democrats already spent the money for welfare handouts.

Do you really think anyone in the Obama-Regime knows squat about wells or what to do about them leaking? What the government was supposed to do was prepare for and marshal supplies for containment and cleanup, in the event there were an accident.
