"Democratic and Republican lawmakers are questioning the decision to move ahead on a vote to repeal the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, saying Congress and the administration should wait until the Pentagon completes its internal review this fall."

Allowing fags and lesbians in the military is a big mistake. I don’t want to shower with a fag checking out my junk. I’m sure the women don’t want the bull dykes checking them out either. If it doesn’t matter then why not just make the showers and rooms all co-ed?
Oh and I know several gay people that say they definitely check out the people in the gym locker room.
Its for votes.
This is typical of the current administration: Proceed with implementing something based on limited and often erroneous data that results only from those who shout the loudest, not necessarily the majority. And then try to justify it after it’s being implemented. Witness pelosi’s statement: “You have to pass it to find out what’s in it...” pertaining to obamacare.
>> Its for votes.
I agree, but I think it may backfire. The ‘Rats already HAVE the fag and fag-sympathizer vote pretty well locked up. How much more do they think they can get?
But passing this turkey of a law will serve to piss off more older voters, more independents, more “regular folks”.
They really only have about 3 months left because congress is in recess the month of August, then they come back for a month before they recess for the election season. Out of that 3 months, at least one month the senate will be tied up with the Kagan hearings. So they are really down to crunch time.
Yesterday on MSNBC Maddow (who is completely unbiased regarding this topic even being a lesbian herself) had an activist saying we need to do this now for :1) national security due to manpower needs, 2) to fix the deficit (hasn't this one been used before?)
Regarding #1. Will troops promoting open homosexuality policing Muslim countries really help the situation?
They know that. They also know that the sooner they get it passed the more time they'll have for them to forget about it before November. They don't want them going to the polls with this fresh on their minds.
” So they are really down to crunch time.”
...yep...and I look for some type of campaign aimed at the MTV vote....(remember ‘vote or die’ last election?)...plus an attempt at the stoner vote (more ‘medical’ pot laws)...plus more money for schools...plus some type of fear monger campaign for the black vote...something along the lines of the ‘Tea Party will take away the 14th Ammendment’
“Proceed with implementing something based on limited and often erroneous data that results only from those who shout the loudest, not necessarily the majority.”
Put a different way: this crew doesn’t want to let facts get in the way of ideology when it comes to making policy. Obama repeatedly slammed GWB for letting the Christian right “hijack” policy debates. He swore up and down he’d rely on “evidence-based” policymaking, but as his mendacious conduct during the health reform illustrated repeatedly, he and his advisors are shameless about “cherry-picking” the evidence to support whatever policy they’ve already decided makes sense on ideological grounds.
The administration can’t risk a military report that might call into question their planned policy change. So they’ll change the policy and then deep-six any report that makes it look like they rushed to judgment.
But they need the fag, queers and homo vote to turn out for them. If the see a republican as blocking their holy grail of making the US military a bastion of queers then they will turn out and vote. Plus they get to drive the media attention.
I don’t understand why they want in so badly. I guess it’s a good place to be a queer...all the (mostly) physically fit men a fag would want to see naked in one place. And lord forbid if they get in a position of authority over young troops. Imagine a fag drill instructor. They would parade through the showers with them checking out the sites.
Oh please. Do they actually think Pelosi/Reid give a damn about what the Pentagon has to say?
Maybe it is because the CIC wants to come out of the closet?
You got that right! But you shouldn't just limit it to military reports. It's happened with interpreting the preamble to the Constitution ("... provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare...." [my emphasis]), the 4th and 10th Amendments, obamacare, TARP, and Wall Street regulation, is now happening with illegal immigration, is getting ready to happen with another stimulus package, and possibly interpreting the first and second Amendments - pretty much issues affecting all elements of society.
“Regarding #1. Will troops promoting open homosexuality policing Muslim countries really help the situation? “
Oh yeah man! Big time help
Maddow says she is being told Dems have the votes to pass the open-homo-military amendment to the defense bill.
Madcow?
We’ll see ;-)
It would help terrorist recruitment I’m sure.
Can’t see how it would fix the deficit.
The background banner MSNBC is using for these pro-open-homo-military stories is “The Right to Serve” and Chris Matthews is now claiming being openly homosexual in the military is a ‘righ’t and told the audience to call it’s congressional members for the vote.
