I will defend your rights the rights guaranteed every American by the Constitution with the same dedication, integrity and vigor with which I defended my country while serving as a pilot in the U.S. Navy.
I was privileged to serve along side men and women of the military who shared my belief that our assignment was to protect America at ALL cost. Whether facing turbulent seas or enemy fire, I was entrusted with multi-billion dollar equipment and vital security missions requiring focus, resolve and pinpoint precision. During battle, there is no room for error.
Here in Alabamas Fifth Congressional District, we understand the vital role that government plays in providing for the common defense. But todays representation is Washington is destroying all we have fought and died for.
They were elected to serve as the peoples voice, to defend our rights and to create the opportunity for all Americans to enjoy security and prosperity. Instead, the power of elected office is being used for self-serving agendas, special interests and political gain. I say, No more!
If elected to Congress, I will vigorously defend freedom of enterprise, fight for your right to bear arms and promote a limited role of the Federal government in YOUR life. I will not stand back and allow the status quo of politics as usual to continue eroding our rights and destroying our country.
Regardless of circumstance or surrounding, I will defend you in Washington with the same zeal, passion and determination I had as a naval aviator. You WILL again have a voice! Thank you for your support.
About Les
Les Phillip is a conservative, Republican candidate for the Fifth Congressional District of Alabama.
A native of Trinidad-Tobago and the son of immigrant parents, Phillip became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1978. He is a former aviator for the U.S. Navy and an experienced operational manager.
After leaving the Navy, Les entered the private sector where he has owned businesses and worked in sales, marketing, project management and operations. His past professional experience includes Arrow Electronics in Huntsville, AL, where he successfully increased sales and implemented cost-saving processes for the company.
At Vulcan Materials in Birmingham, Les implemented process improvements and strategic solutions for the company, resulting in more efficient operations. As a candidate for Congress, Les has a passion for defending the Constitution, protecting the freedom we hold dear and restoring Americas conservative values.
The story of Les Phillip: An American Dream Fulfilled
Les Phillip was born May 29, 1963, to Randolph and Elvina Phillip in the tiny Caribbean country of Trinidad Tobago. The Family moved to St. Croix before immigrating to the United States.
After the plane ride from Trinidad to St. Croix, young Les was given a glimpse into his future. While traveling, he told his mother that he wanted to be a pilot. His mother accommodated her sons aspiration by requesting that the pilot of their aircraft meet Les and explain to him what it would take to become a pilot someday. The pilot told Les to excel in math and science and fly in one of the branches of the U.S. military.
In 1971, the Phillip family came to the United States and settled in Baltimore, Maryland. Les graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, a public school, in the spring of 1981. That summer, he would pursue his childhood dream and enter the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
There, he met his wife, the former Merle Ford of Montclair, New Jersey. At the age of 26, Les achieved his goal and earned his Naval Aviator wings.
Over the next eight years, Les became the proud father of three wonderful daughters. He left the service in 1993 and pursued a career in the private sector. He and his wife currently own a business located in Madison, Alabama.
Les Phillip became involved in politics in 1984, just six years after becoming a naturalized citizen. While in the Naval Academy, he began developing his political identity, studying a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution that he received via an advertising campaign. He soon realized how far the government had moved away from the design laid out by the founding fathers of our country.
After becoming a parent and working in the private sector Les became concerned with the daily struggles of middle-class America. He came to the realization that life is not just about where you are going but what you leave behind to your children and grandchildren.
The simple idea that his children might not enjoy the same America that he and his parents longed for in 1971 is what inspired Les to become a public servant.
Les came to this country with a dream, an American dream. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a Naval Aviator, serving our country proudly, marrying his college sweetheart, raising three beautiful daughters, working in the private sector and even operating a successful business.
His story is an American success story, one of the stories that so often go untold. He knows first-hand how great this country is and how much greater it can be. He believes that we need a leader, a voice that can rally others to join his cause.
Les Phillip is the leader we need to preserve the life we enjoy in the Tennessee Valley. He is the voice that can get us back on track to restore America.
Restore Pride in America. Restore Our American Economy. Restore Our American Jobs, and, most importantly, Restore Our American Freedoms!
Send a message to our government and elect Les Phillip to Congress in 2010!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I pray he garners lots of support and backing. We need every seat we can get occupied by patriotic, sensible, courageous and NON-SOCIALIST Americans. Go, Les Phillip!
Another good LES PHILLIP ad
Just for predictable twisted lib eyerolls - Meghan Mcain makes a fool of herself again and is trumpeted by Madwoman Maddow about Les Phillip
A SUPER AD FOR ALABAMA SEC OF AGRICULTURE !!
Yeah ! That's what we're talkin' about !
I enjoy hearing Les speak as Ive said before its like hes in my head and I hear my thoughts coming out of his mouth (or thoughts I wish I had).
Phillip said that the US needs nuclear power - noting that the Navy safely runs the largest number of reactors in the world also noting that France gets 80% (IIRC) of its power from nukes.
Phillip said that the most important task before the next Congress was to kill Obamacare, because it is the camels nose under the tent to socialism.
Phillip cited the Federal takeover of the student loan industry as an example originally the feds said that they were just providing competition to the banks now the Feds control the entire business.
This illustrates what I like about Les, he knows not only that a policy is good or bad, he knows why because he knows the history (NOTE: Mo Brooks is much the same in that respect I enjoy learning from both of them).
Alabama ping for freepers to take a good look at this Conservative candidate for Congress!
Awesome and authentic smile too! I like him. Thanks for the info. He sounds like our kind of guy!
Ping FYI
I’m split between Les Philip and Mo Brooks. I’ve heard both interviewed on the radio and both are impressive and seem like solid conservatives. I would give Mo Brooks a slight edge in being able to articulate the conservative position on things. What is it that makes Les Philip the better choice in your opinion?
Hey dear one! YES! YES! YES!!! Les Phillip is a REPUBLICAN!!!!!!
I have been to TEA PARTIES with him speaking and to other meetings where he has been honored!
He was running against Parker Griffith (who was a D) then Parker changed parties to R.
LES PHILLIP is a STRONG CONSERVATIVE!!!!!
BTTT
He’s a nice man but North Alabama is North Alabama and that is that. I know someone from up there will take offense from that but numbers don’t lie. There were a huge number of votes in that district that even Kerry got that shifted to McCain in 2008 even as the Democrats running for statewide office led the rest of the ballot down the line.
North Alabama is North Alabama. Griffith is the strongest candidate in general and Brooks is electable. I can’t see Phillip able to beat any of the Dem candidates because they’re all positing as blue dogs and just because the black candidate is a Republican doesn’t mean these people will be any more receptive to them because this is the most Democratic area of the state and the one part of Alabama where more whites still identify as Democrats than Republicans even if they don’t vote that way for the White House.
I need to do some more research before the primary voting day but Dale Jackson is turning me off of voting for Mo Brooks. My husband listens to him on his drive to work but I can’t take his crazy rantings and his silly “what grinds my gears”, I’ll stick with listening to Rush, Boortz and Levin.
