And to think that at one time Lebanon was a Christian nation. Then out of Christian concerns for the downtrodden muslims, they were allowed in and they took over like a satanic virus.

Pray and keep vigilant that it doesn't happen here!

I would think the killing of 46 SK sailors by NK would do it. Plus NK guys who got caught plotting to assassinate some SK dignitary. I guess it does need to really happen before it all breaks loose though.

When was the last time a cuban jet overflew the U.S.?

When was the last time a cuban jet was given enough fuel to fly to the U.S.?

Can Obama handle a three-front war?

You're not suggesting that Hussein would ever initiate a defense of Israel?

Around 1959, when this Buick was manufactured, which is why it was later turned into an 'R' Boat (refugee) bound for Florida.

“In my view, the IDF have the same right to overfly Lebanese airspace as the United States had the right to overfly Soviet airspace with U-2 surveillance aircraft.”

None whatsoever? Remember you used the word “right.” I think that may be the problem here. No one has the right to trespass against you. Sometimes they have a good reason to do so, but not a “right.”

these batteries will last little more than a minute before a visit from a Hellfire.

Seems an AGM-88 would be a better choice.

“While I agree that the hezzie’s can go pound sand you have to agree that there was a reason we flew U-2’s over the USSR and not something lower and slower.”

Bingo.

You forgot China and Russia and Serbia and Turkey. NK gets involved so will China and Taiwan. Russia will use the chaos to exert their dominance on the region aligning themselves with Iran and Turkey. Turkey will use this alliance to run all the Kurds out of there so the Kurds in Iraq will fight against the Turks. Chechnya will start it up again and Georgia will try to take back their land. NATO will have to move out of Kosovo to support other efforts so Serbia, with Russia’s help, will take back Kosovo.

After more of this, they’ll all realize the cause of all their problems is Israel.........

The Russians and the US probed each others’ air defenses throughout the Cold War and continue to do it to this day. Just last week, someone posted a set of photos of an F-22A intercepting a Russian Bear bomber near Alaska.

The US has done the same with aircraft like from modified B-29s in the early 50s to EC-135 and EP-3E. It’s a dangerous game, since they need to fly close enough to prompt a response from the air defense system. Many American airmen have lost their lives on recon missions along the edges of Russian airspace.

The IAF did this to provoke a response from the Lebanese, and they got the intelligence they wanted. The now have a better idea of the radar capabilities, missiles and willingness to fire on Israeli targets. It’s very possible they were looking to see if Syria had based some of the newer missile systems like the S300 in Lebanon.

One person’s post about the SAM’s inability to take down an IDF fighter made me think they just shot at them to make the losers in their country happy.
