Obama will be on vacation in Chicago this Memorial Day, instead of presiding over Memorial Day ceremonies at Arlington. This may be the first time since the Civil War that a president will not pay respect to the veterans passed.
America’s history and traditions are going to have to change.
He said this during the 2008 campaign.
People didn’t pay attention.
Oh but dead people do vote in Cook County, IL and Zapata County, TX. and they voted for JFK and LBJ.
Bush was there every Memorial Day with the exception of 2002 when he was at the American Cemetery in Normandy.

Bush, in Europe for meetings and a NATO summit, said during the ceremony “our wars have won for us every hour we live in freedom. Our wars have taken from us the men and women we honor today, and every hour of the lifetimes they had hoped to live.”

Barack Hussein Obama is a man that has no loyalty to or understanding of America and the esteem our people have for our military and, especially, fallen soldiers. He is making it clear to even the apathetic among us that he is not worthy of the office he holds.
It's already clear enough to many that his socialist/communist agenda will deliberately bring down the greatest country on earth. The November 2nd election will be or last chance to stop this man and his like-minded cohorts in congress, if we still have the right to vote by then.
He’s supposedly going to a cemetary in Chicago.
If he wanted to set some new precedent he could have done both. Arlington in the morning, Lincoln in the afternoon. Maybe he couldn’t get a flight?
Partying in Chicago is more important.
Given his ineptitude, maybe we’d rather not have him at any services to respect fallen Americans.

what an especially thoughtless stab in the heart to all the families that have lost their sons and daughters, husbands, wives etc since he took office- we just passed the 1,000 dead mark in Afghanistan and the fighting over the summer will be brutal.

While I could be mistaken, I can't recall a single president in my lifetime who wasn't at Arlington on Memorial Day.
Can anyone tell me how many times President Bush attended the Arlington Memorial Day ceremony, and how many he sent Dick Cheney?
I’m definitely not trying to be provocative, but I am trying to understand whether a year-on/year-off arrangement between POTUS and VPOTUS is a reasonable modern standard. (Obama was there last year)

He also took the family back to Hawaii for their first White House Christmas. I can't imagine how exciting it would be for a normal, America-loving family, with two young girls, to spend their first Christmas as First Family in the White House.
