Until this week, the Obama administration had largely managed to deflect responsibility for the Deepwater Horizon disaster onto others vowing to keep a boot on the throat of BP, while slamming lax oversight on the part of federal regulators during the Bush administration.
But now, with crude lapping into the bayou, even Obamas defenders have turned critical. A White House that prides itself on operational competence and message discipline has been frustrated by an environmental catastrophe it cant predict, cant control and cant out-message and the strain is showing.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs surprised reporters at the daily briefing Monday by announcing the president would answer questions about the spill in person Thursday the first presidential news conference Obama has given in months.

Obama hits the links at St. Andrews Air Force Base
President Barack Obama took to the golf course on Saturday after returned from delivering the commencement address at West Point.
“Oh the environuts so loved him before.
He rode them hard and put them down wet.”
Well said! I gather even the moonbats as DemocraticUnderground are catching on. They are kavetching [sp?] about him talking basketball with Marv Albert while oil washes up on the southern coastal shores. When (as a liberal) you’ve lost DU, you’re up that famous creek without a padel—and the repo man is waiting on the banks to confiscate the canoe.
Well pictures of bird in oil are starting to come in...
After all it’s Federal waters, it’s the Fed Government’s job here, not BP..
Oh nevermind, this is the ‘age of Obama’ in the Obamamedia...
I wish he would just turn the teleprompter around so the audience can see it and save us the pain of listening to him drone on.
Any one want to take bets there will be a (oh so not) subtle swipe at Sarah Palin in his speech?
The presser will begin with Press Secy Bobbie Gibbs doing armpit-fart impersonations of the sound made by the oil bubbling out of the seabed. Followed by Obama making similar noises using a different body part.
The same way Putin responded to Anna Politkovskaya, and this presser is just a way of determining which "journalist" gets the short straw.
I'm serious, marxist dictators only know one way to deal with non softball questions.
This may not be the week it happens, but I think it will happen sometime.
And don't expect anyone in the media to actually ask any tough questions. They will take whatever Obama gives them like little stenographers.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a presidential press conference at a golf course before.
The RATs (green weenies) caused the spill by forcing deep water drilling.
Obama could have allowed the slick to be ignited early on...but no.
Obama could have allowed the use of hay cannons early on...but no.
He needed a perfectly good crisis which he had planned to not let go to waste.
Now the big mess is washing ashore in the Gulf causing billions of dollars of damage.
He should be forced to wear this one.
So Gibbs is finally going to do something serious at a press conference!
Two days to find a scapegoat.
He won’t do a real press conference. He will read from a teleprompter. The press will wet itself.
The press will ask pre-submitted questions that Obama will have scripted teleprompter answers for.
I wonder if the puppet press can look itself in the mirror anymore.
Good time to go golfing!
Dear Leader: No need. I know what you want to hear. In fact, I knew before you asked me if you could ask me a question, that you would ask me a question. Next...
2nd Scribe (Reporter): Thank you for gracing us with your immense knowledge of all things worth reporting.
Dear Leader: I'm sure it's your pleasure. Thank you all. I have an early Tee Time tomorrow, so I gots to go...
Jindal needs to nail Obama to the wall on his failure to respond to his emergency requests.
No, tell me that's not true..LOL
Softballs will be tee’d up for Soetoro. Then, it’s back to the links. 100% phony.
