The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18 (see trends). Following passage of health care, enthusiasm for the president among Democrats soared. Today, however, just 49% of Democrats Strongly Approve of Obama’s performance. That’s down from a high of 65%. It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary aberration or the beginning of a lasting change.

“Have you ever talked to Democrats? Some of them are so dumb it is depressing.”

You are exactly right. I have a high school friend who is a professor at a college in MN. He is so clueless on most topics - politics, environment, immigration, economy - yet he argues with me about these things. It is stunning how uninformed he is while thinking himself a genius!!

44%? I guess there are still a significant number of US citizens that have a terminal case of cranio rectal inversion....

That's my sis, the social worker -- who is, of course, a dyed-in-the-wool liberal.

I got to thinking the other day and maybe came up with another fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals.

Specifically, while I'm no expert, I'm well-informed on the oil industry. I'm aware of what's basically involved in exploration, production, refining and distribution -- and the technological advances that consistently increase the reserves.

I know these things because I was interested and wanted to learn how things work -- I read articles and listened to people who were expert. In short, I was inquisitive.

My sister knows none of these things. Yet she has firm opinions about the oil industry, virtually all negative -- mostly fuelled by the enviro-whacko and socialist crap that constitutes the liberal mantra.

Yet, she doesn't know squat. Nor, when you boil it right down, does she recognize that she's ignorant. She simply does not want to know how things work; she is not inquisitive. Instead, her views are fully informed by her politics.

So, basically, there's the difference: conservatives instinctively want to know how things work and this knowledge will inform their opinion. Liberals don't want to know -- or even recognize any need to know.

Anything above 30% is too high.

30% being the number of drones in this country.

My eldest ( a RAT) (I know, I know) and I were discussing this BP oil mess, and he informed me it was Cheney’s fault...if I didn’t know better, I’d think there was a baby mix-up at the hospital when he was born....

" I bet a dollar to a donut that 44% is comprised of 100% leeches on society that don't pay taxes! Perhaps the next poll should ask the following: Do you approve of the job Obama is doing as President Do you pay taxes?"

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009.

I think you are on to something there. I am going to suggest this to my “genius” professor friends.

Thanks

"I gave up trying to have a discussion with liberals on facebook. They have only a couple of tactics; non sequitors as in, ‘you’d think it was ok if a conservative did it.’ They ignore your point and make some totally unrelated argument, such as how we abused in Indians. Indians, for gosh sake. I’m expecting the Crusades to come up any minute. And their last ploy is to simply dismiss you by saying something like, ‘well, you just don’t feel the same way I do about helping people less fortunate than yourself.’ It is absolutely no use trying to discuss stuff logically with people of a certain mindset."

Whenever I debate liberals on the Internet, the more clever ones have one or two talking points (probably gotten from huffington post). When that is exhausted, they go to insults.

Of course, the idea of helping someone for a liberal goes like this. "Look at the poor man with the tin cup. You rotten conservative walked right by him and didn't give him any money. I have compassion!"

Then the liberal reaches into the conservative wallet and puts $50 into the tin cup and says smugly, "I care about people and you don't!!"

"I am extremely concerned with Obama’s plans for education, specifically his plan to make tenth and eleventh grades optional. We already have a plan that allows kids to graduate early, it’s called the GED. At least students are required to meet minimal requirements under the GED. Obama’s plan is to put marginal students directly into union apprenticeships, including firemen’s union and police unions. This would give the gang bangers and underachievers a head start in the union jobs, ahead of the higher performing white students, who prefer to get an eduction first. It would also eliminate testing for promotions. Promotions would be based purely on union seniority and the dumber apprentices would have more seniority than the ones who stayed in school. Put this together with the forced unionization of the police and fire workers into one federal union and you have a single police force across the country that the local towns and cities have no control over. They could be forced to hire the gang bangers from the cities and be forced to pay the going union wage and benefit package whether they can afford it or not."

I'm not quite clear what level of achievement BrainWashington is shooting for, Mexico, Cambodia, or Somalia?

I also know a professor at a college in MN who has the same attitude!! His name doesn't happen to be George does it? Heh heh.

Anyway, he's trying to argue with me that the word "trick" in the Climategate scandal really is a word that scientists use for somethink else. But of course I wouldn't know that because I'm not a physicist like him. However, I do know hokum and I've studied globull warming for years and it does NOT stand up to the scientific facts. I can smell BS and the "I know much more than you;ll ever know" tactic does not fool me.
