Clinton: Koreas security situation 'precarious'

By MATTHEW LEE (AP)

BEIJING — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that North Korea's sinking of a South Korean warship has created a "highly precarious" security situation in the region and that the Obama administration is working to prevent an escalation of tension that could lead to conflict.

Speaking to reporters in Beijing shortly after the White House issued a statement offering Washington's full and unequivocal support for Seoul, Clinton said all of North Korea's neighbors, including its chief ally China, understand the seriousness of the matter and want to "contain" it.

"We are working hard to avoid an escalation of belligerence and provocation," Clinton said. "This is a highly precarious situation that the North Koreans have caused in the region."

The U.S. will work with other nations to see that North Korea feels the consequences of its actions and changes its behavior to avoid "the kind of escalation that would be very regrettable," she said.

Clinton would not discuss the details of what the United States might do but noted that President Barack Obama had ordered U.S. military commanders to "to ensure readiness and to deter future aggression" from North Korea. The United States has 28,500 troops in South Korea.

We’ve been sending the wrong defense signals for quite some time now. It’s been twenty years since we started dismantling our military. Who thought some other nation would take note.

If a nation like North Korea has, does anyone think China or Russia has?

The Kenyan is busy cutting as much of our military might as he can. So yes, now we have adventurism for the first time in decades. It’s only going to get worse folks.

Idiots. Jackasses.

They are as dumb as a bag of frikkin hammers.

The answer stares them right in the face.

Mr. Hilary Clinton went up to Pyongyang last year on a greviously disastrous kowtow mission along with John Podesta, funded by liberal Hollywood, giving total tactical victory to Kim Jong il in the kidnapping case of two Al Gore Journalists. Obongo also said he would travel to Pyongyang to further relations, an additional sign of unprecedented geopolitical weakness from an American President.

FROM THAT MOMENT THE DPRK LEADERSHIP WITH KIM AT THE HELM, SEASONED HARDBALL PROFESSIONALS THAT THEY ARE, KNEW THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH ALL KINDS OF MISSILE LAUNCHES, PUBLIC EXECUTIONS, RAMPED UP CONTERFEIT PRINTING, UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR TESTS, ELICIT ARMS SHIPMENTS THROUGH THAILAND TO SYRIA AND IRAN, AND FINALLY THE SINKING OF AN ROK CORVETTE, THE CHEONAN, IN FREE WATERS AS AN ACT OF WAR.

They do this, Mrs. Clinton, because YOUR boss and YOUR husband have been perceived in a North Korean context with so much abject weakeness and disdain, they have fully invited this dangerous North Korean situation.

Dont stand there with a confused shit eating grin on your face, puzzled, as if you have no idea that you and Washington have nothing to do with creating this emboldened enviroment within the Presidum of the Korean Workers Party and the Senior Leadership of the Korean Peoples Army. Disgusting and reprehensible is your lack of responsibility and cluelessness, Mrs. Clinton.

jhpigott: “KIY may over play his hand if he is not careful.”

Well, that’s certainly the risk, but the N. Koreans have decades of experience at this game. As far as the leadership is concerned, what’s the death of a few million more proles from starvation?

"This is as bad as I've seen things on the Korean peninsula in a long time."

Years of South Korea playing the "mean old US won't let us reunite with our peaceful brothers to the North" card didn't help matters.

Though having a pansy @$$ POTUS doesn't help much either...

Clinton spent 8 years as President and didn’t lift a finger to end the Korean war and bring home the American troops. He is as guilty as Kim Small-Dong Ill.

The Obama Administration issued stronger statements to Arizona than they did to North Korea.

I’m worried Obama will start a war to defect losses in November. Would america rally around the democrats?

The only way to save him is some kind of world catastrophe, yet that would expose his incompetence even more imo. but with the nazi like media supporting him, you never know.

You are right on the money - our leadership has emboldened the NORKs to the point that they have sunk a not-insigificant S. Korean naval combatant and gotten away with it so far. I believe they may be on the cusp of pushing the enevelope too far.

The problem with kowtowing no-nothings like Slick Willy and Obummer is that they tend to over-react if things don’t go their way. I can just picture Obama in the oval office stuptified at the Cheonan sinking inspite of his “good will” gestures to the NORKs.

These types of crisis are difficult enough to manage with 2 rationale actors on either side of the table. With a mentally unstable leader on one side and a no-nothing egomaniac on the other this thing could spin out of control pretty quickly.

As a member of the military, I am both ashamed of and disgusted at Obama. And the Hildabeast is a joke of a SoS. Her appointment was unconstitutional. What is the purpose of having the best trained military on the planet if you are too much of a puss to back up the threat (not that he threatens to use it) to use it with actually doing so? I’m going to have a banner made for the front of my house that says:

Obama hates America! Impeach NOW!!

The norks know there isn’t much value in US funds these days. Wouldn’t be surprised if their puppetmasters had made them sink that ship as a warning.
