The reality here is that when the conflict was still raging 1951-'53 and the Chinese entered the fray, MacArthur requested that the nukes be released (as Westmoreland would do later in Vietnam) and the request was denied by the spineless Dems. In both cases the nuclear option should have been exercised. I'll bet we wouldn't be suffering from a fraction of the amount of disrespect and abuse that we've suffered at the hands of tiny tyrants since then.

In both cases the nuclear option should have been exercised I agree. I also think that the US should have nuked the Soviet test site as soon as the USSR successfully tested an atomic bomb (1947?). We should have nuked the site and then announced that no nation on earth should develop these weapons. There's your non-proliferation pact, right there.
