Raptors Coming Back to Guam, Okinawa

The U.S. Air Force is scheduled to deploy F-22A Raptors to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, and Kadena Air Base, Japan, in late May for approximately four months.

Twelve F-22As will deploy from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., to Andersen AFB and another 12 will deploy from Holloman AFB, N.M., to Kadena AB. Approximately 250 Airmen will accompany the Raptors to each location.

The F-22A is a transformational combat aircraft that can avoid enemy detection, cruises at supersonic speeds, is highly maneuverable, and provides the joint forces an unprecedented level of integrated situational awareness.

As part of continuing force posture adjustments to address worldwide requirements, the United States continues to deploy additional forces throughout the Western Pacific as part of U.S. Pacific Command’s Theater Security Package. This is the latest example of the flexibility U.S. forces have to meet their ongoing commitments and security obligations throughout the Pacific region.

They have a number of MIGs up to and including the 29, but IIRC, the bulk of their frontline fighters are 21s.

They also use the Antonov AN-2 Colt as a light transport, and for insertion of their SOF. I believe it's the last biplane still in operational use by any military.

The F-22s downfall was that it is too damned far ahead of other nations. Obama seeing this, couldn’t allow more of them to be produced.

But don't put all of those fighters on one side of the island. It may capsize! /sarc

(Explanation: Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) fears Guam may capsize

It would be a turkey shoot for the Raptors. Maybe China would let us do them a favor.....
