Idaho Tea Partier To Protest Sarah Palin!
Talking Points Memo ^ | May 20, 2010 | Rachel Slajda

Posted on 05/21/2010 6:03:18 PM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Out in Idaho, one tea party Republican has had enough of Sarah Palin.

Lucas Baumbach, who's running for the state senate, is angry that Palin is butting in to the Republican race to unseat U.S. Rep. Walt Minnick (D). What's worse, she's endorsing the other guy.

"I think she should let Idahoans pick for themselves instead of shoving a candidate down our throats," he told TPMDC in an interview today.

Baumbach supports Raul Labrador, a conservative state representative who openly supports repealing the 17th Amendment. But Palin is stumping for Vaughn Ward, who was the Nevada state director for John McCain's presidential campaign, by headlining a fund-raiser tomorrow night.

So, as the Idaho Reporter originally reported, Baumbach is organizing an anti-Palin protest outside the rally He said he expects about 200 people, many of them from the local tea party.

"I'm a big fan of Palin's in the past, but I have to question whether the money's going to her head," Baumbach said, or whether she's just doing "what McCain tells her."

Baumbach takes issue with Palin for endorsing candidates like Carly Fiorina in California, accusing her of following McCain's line instead of listening to what tea parties have to say.

And it's even worse, he says, for her to impose herself on Idaho.

"She has a lot more star power here" than in California, he said. "I think it's just abusive."

A spokesman for Ward said it's nothing but "sour grapes."

"I just find it interesting that people who have been extremely supportive of Sarah and would have been very excited had she come here for Raul would have done exactly the opposite," said the spokesman, Mike Tracy.

Ward's name recently graced TPMDC's pages when he said he'd favor repealing the 17th Amendment and had to immediately backtrack. It may have been a move by Ward, the NRCC's pick for the seat, to scoop up some ultra-conservative votes from Labrador -- who openly supports repealing the amendment. (Repealing the amendment would take electing senators out of the hands of the public and give it to the state legislatures.)

Additional reporting by Evan McMorris-Santoro

Late update: Don't expect to see Labrador, the guy Baumbach supports and Ward's opponent, at the anti-Palin rally. Labrador released a statement calling for conservatives to stop attacking Palin.

"Sarah Palin's visit to Idaho on behalf of the beleaguered Vaughn Ward Congressional Campaign has prompted many comments by conservatives," wrote his campaign. "We are disappointed with her coming into this Primary Race - as Ward clearly is the damaged candidate - but we urge conservatives to STOP the attacks on Gov. Palin."

No by Dogs I mean the GOP machine. I just wish that she would get the hell out of the way and let things transpire in each state on their own. The “hero” thing doesn’t impress me. They exists on the democrat side as well. John McCain had a great military record but on policy he’s an idiot as are most of the detached morons on the GOP side in Washington who appear to be nothing more than liberals on a budget. She is selling herself out to the Washington party machine for future support. In the end she will owe them and not us. Let the people of Idaho make their choice without interference. The national GOP machine is playing favorites with the guys they think they can control. I think they have lost sight of the goal, which is to take back both houses, instead they appear to be interested in keeping their individual jobs rather than shoot for long term victory, not just in 2010 but 2012 and beyond. Otherwise we are dead as a nation and we will have politics as usual and will slide into socialism only a little slower because RINOS are in charge.

If it weren’t for the fact he worked for McCain, Ward’s position statements look like Ann Coulter could have written them. Some people are so hung up on getting rid of what they see as the ‘establishment’, they end up throwing out a lot of decent people too. Ward’s entire ‘establishment’ happened to be campaigning for McCain- a lot of good people did that.

Well this guy she endorsed is a full fledged Conservative and the ‘critic’ who is riling people up is a Paultard Adam Kokesh supporter who is supporting an illegal immigrant, pro-amnesty attorney.

Sometimes you do need to take a stand, especially when the choice is obvious.

Now, do I agree with her other endorsements, heck no, but she isn’t Jesus. She is a private citizen who is free to make the decisions she sees best for her own reasons. However, if you look at all of Palin’s endorsements, she is something like 90% Conservative to 10% RINO (not counting Rand Paul because I don’t know if he really is Conservative or like his dad, just putting on a front.)

clarification on previous, the opponent isn’t an illegal, just an attorney who represents them.

-—”Ward’s entire ‘establishment’ happened to be campaigning for McCain- a lot of good people did that.”-—

You can point to a rock-solid, stone cold, near-100% Conservative in nearly every state who managed McCain’s campaign in their state.

Heck, Pete Roskam here in IL-6 is damn near a 100% Conservative on every issue, and he helped run the McCain campaign in IL.

Ward isn’t just the “establishment” candidate. He’s a ROCK-SOLID Conservative who deserves our support.

Let the people of Idaho make their choice without interference.

How Utopian of a sentiment. Glad to know that Idaho is in a vacuum.. now back to reality, this isn't American Idol, this is political warfare. Learn from the enemy, they do best when they nationalize races. We are about to face a major nationwide political challenge that can change the course. We can't play business as usual. I don't know if Palin is playing this tactic (she probably is just working with people she knows and personally likes), but if I were thinking of a national political battle, I would be looking at how all the little pieces fit together and working to get even the smallest pieces in place that best fit the national plan.

Enough of the American Idol games, this is war, treat it as such.

It is KNOWN that his pop was a Brit citizen. This disqualifies him from NBC status.

How do we 'know' this to be true?

LOL. Last time I looked, there were two major parties and Sarah belongs to the Republican party as do both candidates.

Sarah endorsed the candidate of her choice. As always, voters are free to vote for the candidate of their choice.

A quick check and it seems that Mr. Lucas Baumbach is a Paultard who supports Adam Kokesh. No wonder Palin supports his opponent.

What no mea culpa after sticking your leg in your mouth Tolerance Sucks Rocks?

Ha!

Coward!

So HumbleGunner, are you supporting the Paultard?

Check later in the thread. Not only is this Lucas fella the face of epic douchbaggery, he is supporting an attorney for illegals. The guy that Palin endorsed, however, is USMC, former CIA operative, Iraq war hero, and 100% Conservative credentials.

Yet people think they should support the douchbag’s candidate because the guy Palin endorsed happened to campaign for McCain, thus they call him ‘establishment’.

Yeah, it does seem, after reading all the replies, that I would wish to vote for Ward, too. My bad.

And I actually voted for McCain. I had to hold my nose to do it, and I DO hold suspect politicians who worked for him, especially when they’re being challenged. Fortunately, it does seem that Vaughn Ward is the real deal, while Labrador shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near political office.

I hear you on that, but almost everyone worked ‘AGAINST” Obama, so there’s plenty of ties to McCain and that’s unfortunate. Stay the course and be vigilant! Blessings!!!

Thanks. In the meantime, I will continue to pursue my eeeeeevil “agenda” of supporting most non-establishment GOP candidates (except for Raul Reconquista, of course).

LOL. We probably support and like several of the same with very few, if any exceptions. I am partial to Lt Col. Allen West to cite one.
