The Senate approved new far-reaching financial rules on Thursday aimed at preventing the risky behavior and regulatory failures that brought the economy to the brink of collapse two years ago and cost millions of Americans their jobs and savings.
The bill passed by a vote of 59 to 39, with four Republicans joining a majority of Democrats in supporting it.
The 1,500-page measure, shepherded through the Senate by Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the banking committee, seeks to reshape both Washington and Wall Street.

They successfully courted Republican Sens. Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins, both of Maine, in part by including in the final bill provisions that each wanted. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) also backed the bill. Equally critical was the last-minute push to win over Scott Brown (R), the Senate's newest member.

And yesterday it was reported that it didn’t pass. These people........REPUBLICANS and communists alike need to be put in front of a firing squad. I’m sorry..but justice MUST be done and lifetime prison sentences IS NOT justice. These people have screwed us and do not have to live by what they relegate to us ‘common folk’ (although we pay the bill). Our beloved Nation is sinking quickly and diplomacy is DEAD.
On a side note, this evening, while going to the store I was behind a ‘hybrid’ prius (sp) with an Obama/Biden sticker in the rear window and I became unglued, honking my horn and well making gestures and mouthing words that I shouldn’t even know...God help me because honestly, even being female, if the SOB would have gotten out of his vehicle, I would have knocked him in the head (I carry a black jack for self defense). WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE? I don’t get it...Honest to God...I don’t understand.

Unfortunately, all those Massholes (Massachusetts residents) that have poured into New Hampshire in recent years have turned the state blue.
