PPIC Poll: DeVore doubles support; spread in single digits

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DeVore for California today responded to the latest poll from the Public Policy Institute of California, assessing the state of the Republican race for the nomination to face Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer. The poll shows Carly Fiorina with 25%, Tom Campbell with 23%, and Chuck DeVore with 16%. The margin of error is +/-5%. The previous PPIC poll showed Fiorina with 24%, Campbell with 23%, and DeVore with 8%.

Leisa Brug Kline, DeVore for California campaign manager, said, "This poll affirms the surge in Chuck DeVore's support that we've seen elsewhere.

There are a few points of note in these numbers:

"-- Chuck DeVore has doubled his support from the last PPIC poll -- and he's within the margin of error of the front-runner. "--The distance from the first to third is narrowed into the single digits -- ground easily covered by Election Day. "-- As in every poll of this year, Campbell's numbers are static. "--This poll was taken after Fiorina's big endorsements, and after the launch of her massive media blitz. All that got her a single point.

"PPIC just confirms what we've seen in SurveyUSA, Rasmussen, and other recent polls: Chuck DeVore is the only candidate with momentum in this race -- and that momentum is upward."

Joshua Treviño, DeVore for California communications manager, said, "Chuck DeVore's numbers are the only ones with meaningful movement now -- and he's headed straight up. Campbell plateaued on day one, and Fiorina's millions and celebrity bought her all of one point. California's conservatives are realizing Chuck DeVore is headed for a win, and they're moving to him. Expect opinionmakers and movement insiders to follow: they don't like Campbell's positions, and this poll will only reinforce the growing sense that Fiorina's campaign is a futile exercise in vanity.

"The enthusiasm and engagement of the grassroots for DeVore is showing up in the polls. It will show in every poll from here on out, up to the one that matters on June 8th."

Maybe so, but right now he hasn’t hit 17% yet in the primary, so he will never get the chance.
