PPIC Poll: DeVore doubles support; spread in single digits

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DeVore for California today responded to the latest poll from the Public Policy Institute of California, assessing the state of the Republican race for the nomination to face Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer. The poll shows Carly Fiorina with 25%, Tom Campbell with 23%, and Chuck DeVore with 16%. The margin of error is +/-5%. The previous PPIC poll showed Fiorina with 24%, Campbell with 23%, and DeVore with 8%.

Leisa Brug Kline, DeVore for California campaign manager, said, "This poll affirms the surge in Chuck DeVore's support that we've seen elsewhere.

There are a few points of note in these numbers:

"-- Chuck DeVore has doubled his support from the last PPIC poll -- and he's within the margin of error of the front-runner. "--The distance from the first to third is narrowed into the single digits -- ground easily covered by Election Day. "-- As in every poll of this year, Campbell's numbers are static. "--This poll was taken after Fiorina's big endorsements, and after the launch of her massive media blitz. All that got her a single point.

"PPIC just confirms what we've seen in SurveyUSA, Rasmussen, and other recent polls: Chuck DeVore is the only candidate with momentum in this race -- and that momentum is upward."

Joshua Treviño, DeVore for California communications manager, said, "Chuck DeVore's numbers are the only ones with meaningful movement now -- and he's headed straight up. Campbell plateaued on day one, and Fiorina's millions and celebrity bought her all of one point. California's conservatives are realizing Chuck DeVore is headed for a win, and they're moving to him. Expect opinionmakers and movement insiders to follow: they don't like Campbell's positions, and this poll will only reinforce the growing sense that Fiorina's campaign is a futile exercise in vanity.

"The enthusiasm and engagement of the grassroots for DeVore is showing up in the polls. It will show in every poll from here on out, up to the one that matters on June 8th."

The media blitz should be interesting. So far I saw one Campbell ad tonight but have yet to see anything on the air from the other two. DeVore has been ksfo but he’s only talking state politics. Nobody with radio ads yet.

The NRA has some interesting info on Mister Campbell.

Tom Campbell has (apparently) a long history of opposing gun rights and gun ownership.

Onward and upward. We're in it to win it.

Let's not let the Rockerfeller candidate (Campbell) or the McCain candidate (Fiorina) take this.

And since tomorrow (Thursday) is Chuck's birthday, how about a nice gift of a donation to his campaign? We had a great fundraiser for Chuck last night in San Martin and a great breakfast with a Republican women's group for Chuck in Los Gatos. Birthday cards with donation checks in them, nice touch.

I think DeVore should trumpet his endorsement by the NRA. I know Fiorina will.

I’m not a troll but how is getting from 14% to 16% doubling support. At this rate, he’ll be at 17% by election day.

From the same pollster, PPIC, DeVore went from 8 to 16 percent while the other two (one a RINO, the other a Statist) remained static.

Conservatives tend to be slow to making a decision, else we wouldn't be conservative. See my tagline. Tell me it's wrong. Lie to me convincingly if you need.

A chief problems of conservatives is that we're slow to move until forced. Being reactive, it takes a palpable threat to get us off the dime. The Campbell-Fiorina sapping of conservative votes is that sort of threat. Please demonstrate how I’m wrong about that. If necessary lie to me as if you were on the Statist payroll.

I am not a statist and I don’t support Carly or Campbell, but just making a rational observation. Looks like Tom Campbell or Boxer is going to be Senator and thats a damn shame.

DeVore, unfortunately is not going to make it out of the primary.

What do you charge for such fortune telling?

If you are not a Statist, then don’t abet the Campbell-Fiorina demoralizing campaign by repeating their lines. Hangdog statements hamper GOTV.

Just vote your conscience and urge others to do likewise.

Name calling is not going to change anything. Perhaps you cannot read. I do NOT support Carly or Campbell, but DeVore is NOT going to win.

You sound like a liberal with their hope and it will be already mentality. DeVore is NOT catching on and most likely Campbell or Boxer will be the Senator.

Vote your concience. I did NOT vote for Obama or McCain. They both suck.
