Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott

If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.

That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.

Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

Hmmm. Last time our power went out, we put a generator on the power pole that feeds the internet. Neighbors and I took turns gassing it up.

Funny as heck, actually - massive hurricane, all that, and I was still freeping...

But I don’t pretend that that would work, when CA goes dark.

Arizona should wait until LA refuses to pay their next electrical bill and shut their grid down to LA. Then they can say, “We shut the grid down because LA won’t pay their bills.”

That's what Gov Brewer said on Hannity's show this afternoon. She's not interested in just dropping service, but will do so if the bill is not paid. So, that puts the LA freaks in a bit of a pickle. If they're serious about boycotting AZ business, this should also include all transactions pertaining to electricity and water as well.

AZ should turn the tables on the LA Freaks and tell them either enact a real crackdown on illegals and stop the “sanctuary city” BS or electricity and water WILL be stopped.

This is also what Pierce said on Greta's show last night...
..the letter was mainly to shame LA and point out their hypocrisy.

So essentially, if LA is stupid enough to not pay their bill, ...then Arizona can legally have their power turned off.

It was a good ploy.....because the whole nation is now watching LA!!!!

If only. I’d love to be out of this state for numerous reasons, but would miss it for numerous reasons as well.

EAFB and my Flight Test job would need to be moved to one of those states.

However, those whirly things ya’ll call tornadoes and those really heavy frozen things called hail don’t sit well with me.

FRegards,
SZ

I know what you mean, being a native Californian, myself. I would say, though, that the OKC metro area has most of what you like about Cali, and little of what you don't like. Heck, we've got SIX HUNDRED MILES of beach, here! (OK, it's 600 miles TO the beach... ;)

I can understand about the job, and working at Edwards would be cool. I'm a retired USAF MSgt, and like being close to Tinker, even if I don't actually get out to the base all that much anymore. I can still see and hear the jets.

OK, so we have tornados and hail. Our earthquakes are babies compared to the ones you get out there, though! You can out run a tornado, although the weather guys don't advise it. You just have to plan properly. And you can hide from hail! Largest I've seen here is golf-ball size, but one of my neighbors got conked on the head by one larger than a grapefruit earlier this week. Stitches, and a hole in the roof of his van, and all the windows gone. On the other hand, he drove INTO the storm, rather than away from it.

Btw, your Dodgers are doing quite well, congrats!

Thank you!! We are having a blast cheering the New Blue Wrecking Crew!! If it weren't for baseball and my Dodgers, I think I'd go nuts at this point in time.

“Try visiting small town California. You’ll be amazed at the difference. “ For example?

Julian, in the no. San Diego County mountains. I was floored when I went there: complete difference. The children are polite, too!!:-)

My California county always votes Conservative. You’ll see more American flags flying here than anywhere (the only place I ever saw more were in Idaho.)

But then, we rarely admit that we’re part of California.
