Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott

If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.

That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.

Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

AZ, be proactive and cut them off now. Don’t turn the electricity back on until LA enacts a similar law.

Existing statutes in the state of California almost mirror the one that Arizona just signed into law, but the idiot libs on the L.A. city council didn't have a clue about it.

Perhaps they should boycott California.

The Los Angles Lakers should also boycott Phoenix.

Sports franchises should really stay out of politics of any kind. Taking a political position can't do anything except hurt their bottom line, and create animosity towards the team where none existed.

I believe most people in big cities are less cordial. They come into contact with thousands of people per day. They simply can’t be as cordial and personal as smaller city people can be.

Try visiting small town California. You’ll be amazed at the difference.

As for the other points, I agree. You know what, California is one or two sessions with Conservatives the majority in the Legislature from turning this state on it’s head.

I think it will happen sooner than folks believe.

I don’t wish California any ill will. There are many good people there. I didn’t leave because I wanted to, but because I felt I had to.

No, no, no... before that would happen, we would run a fund raiser for generators. I’d donate.

Well, tell him he’s got a serious fan in Port Angels, Washington!

Suddenly, I’m in the mood to buy a small piece of property in Arizona.

Do not cut em off just raise their rates to compensate for the damage

I am sure that has been thought of but, we would only be paid in an IOU.

I was referring to this post. Not sure how this is gonna work out. Like I said, I hope it’s just LA that gets their medicine.

Carpenteria. Placerville. Paradise. Lots of places really.

You’ll be walking down the street, and all of a sudden someone will say Hi, and it almost shocks you. LOL

If you’re not ready, you’ll be dumbfounded and the moment will pass without you saying something nice in return. Been there, done that. It’s strange how that can throw you for a loop, but it can if your mind is elsewhere.

Easier said than done, but nothings impossible.

We are now planning on spending a few days there on vacation this year. We bought an Airstream... need to take it somewhere, it might as well be used to support AZ. Might look at property then.

I’ve spent a fair amount of time up there too, camping and at my folk’s condo. I like the area. And SB isn’t too bad if you drop in, do your thing, and leave.

The college crowd is fun to mingle with at times.

“Then all the glee I see on this thread is a bit misplaced.

While I wholeheartedly agree with AZ’s stance on this, if the entire west coast goes down, FR goes down with it.

FReepers on the west coast would be affected as well.”

I've got a solution for you! Move to Arizona, or Oklahoma, or Texas. OK, you could choose one of the other conservative western states. Get Jim to move Free Republic's servers, too.

Oklahoma is my recommendation, as the cost of living here is much lower than in Cali.

OK, you’re right, it is easy to build half a dam. It just doesn’t last very long if you do! ;)

You infered correctly I meant from the Arizona side to the middle, btw. Although I do like the idea of diverting the entire river. Mexico depends quite a bit on Colorado river water, too.
