Katz Fired From Oil-Spill Team Due to ‘Controversial Writings’ (Homosexuality)

Jonathan I. Katz, a physics professor at Washington University in St. Louis., said he was fired from the team of scientists chosen by U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu to help BP Plc control the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Some of Professor Katz’s controversial writings have become a distraction from the critical work of addressing the oil spill,” Stephanie Mueller, a spokeswoman for the Energy Department, said in an e-mail today. “Professor Katz will no longer be involved in the department’s efforts.”

Chu brought Katz to Houston last week along with four other experts, Richard L. Garwin, a physicist and IBM Fellow Emeritus, George Cooper, a civil-engineering professor at the University of California at Berkeley, Alexander Slocum, a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and Tom Hunter, president of Sandia Corp., which manages research for the Energy Department’s National Nuclear Security Administration.

While Katz’s early work focused on astrophysics, he now consults on a variety of physics puzzles, he said. Katz wrote articles on his personal website, including, “What Is Political Correctness,” “In Defense of Homophobia” and “Why Terrorism Is Important.”

“I don’t self-censor myself,” Katz, 59, said in a phone interview today. “There’s no doubt there are things on my webpage that’ve been there for many years that are fairly controversial.”

He was fired from the panel this morning, he said. He declined to specify which articles triggered the dismissal.

In this administration, you must be politically correct or your expertise is dismissed.

You’d think Katz would know how to plug a hole.

He wrote in Defense of Homophobia and was determined to be a ‘distraction’ and contoversial. had he written in Defense of Homosexuality we would be hailed a hero.

So he’s anti-fag and out of a job? The article is unclear on one of those two points.

Washington University physics professor Jonathan Katz is part of a five-man team of the nation's "best scientific minds" assembled by the Obama administration to help BP stem the flow of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.

He's also been outed as "a virulent homophobe and a climate change denialist."

One site is even spearheading a letter-writing campaign to the president, attempting to get Katz removed from the special assignment.

AMERICAblog is leading the charge. They quote an article Katz wrote titled "In Defense of Homophobia" in which he blames the spread of AIDS on homosexuality and adds the following remarks:

What of those cursed with unnatural sexual desires? Must they forever suppress these desires? Yes, but this is hardly a unique fate. Almost everyone has desires which must be suppressed. Most men and women think adulterous thoughts fairly often, and find themselves attracted to members of the opposite sex to whom they are not married. Morality requires them to suppress these desires, and most do not commit adultery, though they feel lust in their hearts. Almost everyone, at one time or another, covets another's property. They do not steal. Many people feel great anger or intense hatred at some time in their lives. They do not kill.

I am a homophobe, and proud.
Yikes. How about his views on global warming? Here they are, in a paper he penned entitled "Cold Thoughts on Climate Change."
Who is stoking the alarm about global warming? There is Al Gore, an over-the-hill politician who wants to remain in the public eye. His house uses 20 times as much electricity as the average American house and he flies private jets. Obviously, he does not believe what he preaches; it must be an act. Conservation is for the little people. I'll think about reducing my emissions after he reduces his by 95%. Then there is Jim Hansen, would-be dictator who wants to throw in jail anyone who disagrees with him or burns coal. He may wish himself another Mussolini (or worse), but people just laugh at him. And finally John Holdren, who in his younger days was prophesying disaster from the ice age then just beginning (so he said). Fictitious crises are a demogogue's route to power.

Fortunately, global warming is probably good for humanity. Sit back, relax, and watch it happen.
Katz's writings are collected on his personal website. Other highlights include "Diversity is the Last Refuge of a Scoundrel," and "What is Political Correctness?"

Perhaps the Obama administration official who selected Katz for the Gulf-rescue project ought to read that last one and take notes.

Translation: The homosexual bullies have destroyed another career.

Will the "brave","all knowing", "all seeing", conservative media ( Those so-called "conservative" yappers who cry over the Constitution) report on this? Answer: Nope!

Given Chu’s views, I suspect that it was Katz’ views on climate change that caused his rejection.

I think I like him, but can see where he would be fired from anything related to the administration.

I don’t think so. He just looks like a kind of nerdy scientist, like the great majority of brainy boys I went to school with in New York City.

Maybe the Obama administration is going to start demanding blood oaths supporting homosexuality (or, in fact, the entire liberal program) from everybody down to the guy who sells coffee on a corner three blocks from the White House...can’t have any dissent, ya know!

Ignore them and no ‘suppression’ is required. I suspect that many homosexuals who speak of ‘fighting’ their desires actually fantasize a lot but hold short of physically having sex. This is NOT ‘fighting’. It is an act that eventually itself accomplishes the deviation that eventually occurrs.

Perhaps conservatives will finally begin to realize that there is no “peaceful coexistence” with liberals.

What about his "look" causes you to say that?

From Hillbuzz:

This is all really suspicious, though, because during the campaign we truly believe the Obama team pushed the Baker affair story because they wanted people not to talk about Obama’s gay relationships.

Larry Sinclair, Reggie Jones, Kal Penn, Donald Young, nameless men at Man’s Country.  You name it.

Who’s pushing the Baker business now, and why?  Is there a himbo eruption coming for the White House, so they want to preemptively start rumors the current president is such a stud he’s bedding down a woman like Baker?
Could this have anything to do with the fact that, surreally, even people like Maureen Dowd have been hinting at a sexual relationship between Obama and his “basketball buddy” and “body man” Reggie Love…or is it linked to Kal Penn’s firing?
