Yesterday:
Seven U.S. troops were killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday - five in a massive Taliban suicide bombing in Kabul that filled the streets of the capital with blood.
The attack brought the U.S. toll to a grim new milestone - 1,000 American soldiers dead in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001, the independent Web site icasualties.org. reported.
The fighting continued into today as insurgents launched a predawn assault against the U.S.-run Bagram Air Field.
Seven militants had been killed during the "ongoing attack" on Bagram, which included rockets, small arms and grenades, a U.S. statement said. Five service members have been wounded.
The assault began when U.S. guards spotted attackers just outside the base and opened fire, sparking a gun battle, said an Afghan provincial police commander.

I am not posting a comment. I just can't.
PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our softly, softly approach seems to be working.
Only the Taliban is allowed to kill anyone.
They are happy to oblige and don’t care who it is..civilians, women, children(special emphasis).
Where have the anti-war protesters gone? Why isn’t the MSM reporting casualities nightly as they did when Bush was President? It is so shameful that casualties are/were being used as political propaganda props by the Democrats/Liberals.
I notice that the MSM has done little to note the milestone of 1,000 nor do I see in the WP or on ABC news listing the dead. The war is almost invisible except for the occasional incident.
DEAR GOD PLEASE GET OUR TROOP OUT OF THIS MESS!
Get the troops out and just carped bomb this god forsaken hell hole!
Either we fight a war the way a war needs to be fought or we should get out. I don’t believe we will ever change these people, which means we are wasting our time, energy, money and lives of our kids.
Your plea is cop out demanding capitulation. We don’t want to capitulate based on a few deaths. More young Americans are killed daily on American streets than troops in Afghanistan.
If you feel compelled to pray for dead young people, pray to end the daily murders on our streets.
I AM PERSONALLY JUST SO FURIOUS WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION AND WITH MCCHRYSTAL THAT I ALMOST CAN’T POST. I SELDOM POST THINGS THRU BLIND RAGE, BUT I AM NOW. HOLDING MY WORDS AND GRITTING MY TEETH.
This administration has ALREADY capitulated. All that is happening now is slaughter. OURS.
But wait. There’s a silver lining here. It appears that no civilians have been killed by American gunfire. Maybe posthumous “heroic restraint” medals will get awarded.
Prayers for their families...this makes me sick...I’m about ready to send the article to a couple who voted for Obomba....they thought Bush was a war monger.
Once upon a time Americans had some stomach, some fortitude. My son and thousands of others like him do. Others...not so much. Until you are willing to look these young men/women in the face and spout your drivel, keep quiet.
This is news to me. I heard not a peep from the A-hole press corps.
