Mark Critz, the aide to the late Congressman John Murtha, won a special election Tuesday to fill the remainder of his term which ends Jan. 3.
Critz, a Democrat, easily beat Republican Tim Burns, who state GOP Chairman Rob Gleason had tapped over Bill Russell, the retired Air Force lieutenant colonel who ran against Murtha in 2008.

The whole F’n District is on the Mooch. From 30 years of Murtha.
Chicanery??? Hell it is coming in November//FRAUD!
I often wonder what the literacy rate is in blue areas.
Bigtime. This is why Youngstown will elect the 7year felon Trafficant.
UNION PORK
I just find the numbers strange. That they seem to suggest a sizable number of Republican Primary voters shifted and voted for Critz over Burns? All I know is that these numbers need to be looked at to figure out why Burns didn’t do better given the high profile of the race and the fact this county has consistently went Republican suddenly shifted Democrat? I didn’t check more than this county but it is worth looking into.
Anyone in PA 12 seen the add?
Disappointing but I wouldn’t fret about November yet. Rats had high turnout cause of the Senate primary.
I am going to clam 285,456 dependents on my W-4.
The fair tax is a joke.
It will NEVER HAPPEN
Lotta bean counters gonna lose their jobs.
You gonna have one tax bill!
Where the hell was the dumb ass RNC chairman. At a strip club? Disgusting.
The turnout in PA was for the Democratic Senate Primary race. The Republican side was pre-determined and the voters stayed home.
So, you had excited Democrats eager to make their primary vote count and an unmotivated GOP voter since they thought this was a favored Dem district. No reason to go out and vote.
If this was November the results might have been different.
It is called vote fraud.
Without seeing the physical ballot, I can't even begin to guess why the figures you state gave the results they did.
You are correct. This should have been an ez GOP pickup if there was a landslide going on.
How did the coal miners vote in this election?
The voters of that district have little to celebrate.
Murtha’s seniority and committee appointments are not transferable.
I’m betting the DoD is just aching to pay back for all those years of being pushed around by Murtha. They will bug out of Johnstown as fast as possible. All these faux defense contractors have lost their protector and will soon lose their contracts as well.
Mark this prophecy, within a year or two these fat-and-happy people will be selling apples in the street.
Critz had to move so far right in order to win I don't see how he can be of much use to Pelosi and still hold the seat in November.
