WEST HARTFORD, Conn. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal on Tuesday said he had "misspoken" in claiming more than once that he served in Vietnam, dismissing the furor that threatened to endanger a seemingly safe Democratic seat as a matter of "a few misplaced words."
At a news conference backed by veterans, the popular Connecticut attorney general and front-runner to replace the retiring Sen. Christopher Dodd, said he meant to say he served "during Vietnam" instead of "in Vietnam." He said the statements were "totally unintentional" errors that occurred only a few times out of hundreds of public appearances.

YOU LIE!
CNN is hammering Blumenthal.
First Sanchez then Chris tingles
Must be more shoes to drop
if a pubie said that, they’d be out of office forever, period.
Nobody lies anymore. Ever notice that?
Maybe Bush did. It depends on the political affiliation.
Misplaced honor; misplaced trust; misplaced respect for your constituents.
No, sir!
This kind of repeated statement before many venues is not “misplaced”. It is pure deception. And God help any who believe your word.
Poor Blumenthal. If he looks real hard, he might find those misplaced words right next to his misplaced ethics.
“I see stupid people.”
“They don’t know they’re stupid.”
I can understand the similarities of Washington DC and Vietnam. Maybe he just got them confused......I wonder what location is more dangerous now?
You don’t mistake the phrase “during Vietnam” instead of “in Vietnam.” it just doesnt happen over and over.
He knew what he was doing. Admit it Blumenthal and take the heat heading for your ass.
Gee back in the old days, we called it a “LIE”.
Nobody lies anymore. Ever notice that?
They do get misinterpreted, taken out of context, they misspoke, or they were misquoted. But lie? Nah.
That’s like calling what’s happening in the gulf a misplaced oil change.
It’s like saying “I am a doctor” insted of “I went to the doctor”. Easy to do.
Blumenthal needs to resign from his office. He also needs to end his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. For a man to lie in this trivial matter means he will lie to the teeth in matters concerning the security of this nation.
When a man steps up to any position of public office, they must answer to a high standards that might be overlooked in other positions. We cannot have them in any position when they play grab ass with the truth.
Yeah, he misplaced them in public.
Some more misplaced words from a fellow Democrat veteran:
“I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared — seared — in me.”
You can’t blame him for lying....it’s the Rat way.....As a real live guy who was there....actually I can tolerate his lie easier than murtha’s or kerry’s...they probably cost some folks their lives with their cowardly behavior and lies in a combat zone...whereas this worthless POS just lied...some kids probably got broken toys for Christmas but no Americans died!
