Ordinarily, a video like this would be overlooked on You Tube as a random amateur video piece of some Connecticut politician talking about his military service in Vietnam. However, the individual in this video is Connecticut's Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. He is the likely Democratic candidate running for Senate in Connecticut for the seat being vacated by Senator Chris Dodd, a Democrat.
In a number of local newspaper articles, Mr. Blumenthal presented himself as a Marine reservist who served in the Vietnam War, but The New York Times recently revealed that Mr. Blumenthal's representation of his service in Vietnam did not match what they discovered:
We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam, Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it Afghanistan or Iraq we owe our military men and women unconditional support.

Democrat politicians are expected to be lying slime bags by their voters.
Look at how often Clinton, Obama, Frank et al are routinely given a pass for lying by their voters.
WAS HE WITH JOHN F’INKERRY GETTING HIS MEMORY SEARED?...........
“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam, Mr. Blumenthal said to the group”...picky, he just left one word out following Vietnam, “ERA”. Obviously this is being trumped up so they can come up with a candidate farther to the left and completely anti military. Always question a gift horse when the NYT is the donor.
Somebody at the Times is a gettin’ fired...
punk liar
Beware of Geeks bearing rifts?
The crazy thing is the fact that the lie was completely pointless. He could have simply told the truth and been just fine.
So true....Democrat voters care nothing about integrity, character, morals...because all they care about and know is that a Dem politoco will fight to give them things for free..
It’s gonna be hard to ignore with all the Tea Party people sporting signs about it.
So? Another lying, skunk, slimeball, snake. He's a professional politician. What did you expect? If elected, he will follow an exact duplicate...Chris Dodd. "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave", my ass.
OUCH!
Please, he’s a LIAR pure and simple.....he’s also a BULLY TYRANT!!
It adds to the rhetorical proof known as ethos. By making people think he’s a military vet, his ethos is bolstered as someone who would fight for the country. This is akin to Kerry’s Vietnam stories, albeit true, or Bush 41’s WWII stories. They’re used for rhetorical flourish even if the rhetor doesn’t plan to stick to his constructed ethos while in office.

Fill us in on what you hear.
More Stolen Valor.
A regular Four Leaf Tayback.....
I bet he and Kerry have a knee slappin’ time recalling their glory days and one upping the other with horrific paper cut stories.
Well said - and true.
The Dems don’t care if it’s a lie.
