Confrontational Islamist Plan for 911 Mosque Mired in Chaos

By WILLIAM MAYER and BEILA RABINOWITZ

May 17, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - According to a study done by the New York Post - published in its Sunday edition - an increasingly controversial plan to build a $100 million dollar, 13 story mosque just two blocks away from the epicenter of the Muslim terrorist attacks of September 11 is seriously short of funding and engulfed in questions regarding the motivation of its proponents.

The newspaper's story goes on to show that the organizations which are publicly leading the effort - the American Society for Muslim Advancement [ASMA] and the Cordoba Initiative - together have assets of less than $1 million.

"The American Society for Muslim Advancement, which proposed the center, has assets of less than $1 million...[and a] sister organization, the Cordoba Initiative, listed assets of less than $20,000 in 2008. Its tax filings do not disclose at least $60,000 in private contributions, a Post analysis found, raising questions about where the money went."
[source, New York Post, Short on Allah Dollars, http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/short_on_3UhQftAjXfFZq1fNURK3BM?sms_ss=email]

Kuwait born imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is at the helm of this effort and runs both groups. He is listed on ASMA's website as, "Founder of ASMA and Chairman of Cordoba Initiative." [source, http://www.asmasociety.org/about/p_people.html]

This lack of funds raises additional fears that the shortfall will be made up from the deep pocket fundamentalist Wahhabis and Salafists of the Middle East who will use the erecting of a mosque at ground zero as a means of extending cultural and religious hegemony.

In his public utterances and activities Imam Feisal has demonstrated skill in building a non-threatening persona, having created a media friendly image of moderation despite a record of extremist and plainly bizarre statements.

For example, during the second segment of the CBS News show 60 minutes broadcast on September 30, 2001, Feisal Abdul Rauf - the alleged moderate - engaged host Ed Bradley in the following manner:

Bradley: "Are you in any way suggesting that we in the United States deserved what happened?"

Faisal: "I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened, but United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened."

Bradley: "You say that we're an accessory? How?"

Faisal: "Because we have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world. In fact, in the most direct sense Osama bin-Laden is made in the U.S.A."

[source transcript available at the "Islam for Today" website - http://www.islamfortoday.com/60minutes.htm]

Feisal has also claimed that the essential elements of Shari'a - Islamic religious law - are embodied in the American Constitution which seems to be a naked attempt on his part to create a moral equivalency where none exists.

"Islamic law and American democratic principles have many things in common...The framers of the Constitution wrote that they were establishing justice, ensuring domestic tranquility, promoting the general welfare and securing the blessings of liberty. In the same way, Islamic law believes that God has ordained political justice, economic justice, help for the weak and impoverished. These are very Islamic concepts."
[source, Washington Post, Obama vs. Osama in Muslim World, http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/panelists/feisal_abdul_rauf/2009/03/why_obama_should_speak_to_the_muslim_world.html]

Imam Feisal has assured critics that the building of a mosque - on sacred ground, soaked in the blood of innocents - is neither insensitive nor intentionally antagonistic. However when seen clearly, it's an outrageous and blatant act of Muslim domination...a concept dredged up from the 7th century.

That the takiyya laden Feisal and his murky group of backers are so blind as to be unable or unwilling to see the offensive nature of such a move - perhaps the most singularly insensitive and indeed warlike move that any Muslim could propose - speaks with elegant testimony to the assertion that advocates of radical Islam will not stop until both their violent as well as the stealth jihad - of which Feisal could be the poster child - are defeated.

If this is what moderate Islam is all about perhaps a rethinking on our part of the religion's capacity to coexist at any level with the West is in order.

At the rate things are going at ground zero, the Islamists will have a Victory Mosque up before the towers are rebuilt.

We prefer to judge actions rather than attempt to enter the sticky world of being pretend imams.

Our concern lies entirely with those who prove themselves radical, therefore it’s not necessary in our case to guess.

Hope this doesn’t look snotty, its not intended that way, but it’s a way of stepping around some thorny problems journalistically.

I understand the 9-11 families are asking repeated and loud questions about the funding sources, which is causing the usual ones to shy away.

I'm sure the Islamists wouldn't find it offensive if we were to build a huge fighter base a mile from Mecca and do low flybys every 10 minutes.

“In Hawaii, what did the Japanese erect in the years that followed the attack on Pearl Harbor? “

Even if they did build anything in Hawaii after the war, the point is they lost and we defeated them. And might I add something like a shinto shrine isn’t a Phalic Monument to Islamic conquest like the 13 story monstrosity in NY is supposed to be....

“At the rate things are going at ground zero, the Islamists will have a Victory Mosque up before the towers are rebuilt.”

Indeed, we should have just really re-built the towers back to the way they were and many add a few stories while we were at it.

Instead we are building a momument to wishy washy puke inducing “feelings”....

LOL! I was going to suggest building a 13-story cathedral right next to Mecca, but I like your idea better.

To add insult to injury, the United Nations is helping to pay for this! AND from the news stories I've read (not sure which is correct) they either plan the groundbreaking for this project on Sept. 11, 2011 (or it's supposed to open on Sept. 11, 2011).

This is outrageous. Here's my post from earlier with more info in it: Spitting in the Face of Everyone Murdered on 9/11 (UN pays for mega-mosque 600ft from Ground Zero!)

What you obviously believe is history is the myth of Muslim tolerance as exemplified by Cordoba during Islamic reign. The Islamic occupation of Spain lasted for 7 centuries. Islamic apologist misrepresent the short period of soft tyranny over the subject Dhimmis in small areas of their dominion (as Cordoba) to be representative of the entire time. This is a lie. (See the writings of Andrew Bostom, Bat Ye'or, to name a few - or check these Google search results: LINK)

But to bring the subject to the present here's the meaning of Cordoba to Muslims today:

Brief Europe: Muslims stopped from praying in mosque

Two Muslim tourists were arrested when they tried to pray inside Córdoba’s famous former mosque in Spain, breaking a ban imposed by the Roman Catholic Church. Half a dozen Austrian Muslims knelt to pray at the same time in the vast marble building, which was converted to a cathedral in the 13th century after Muslims were driven from Spain. The two men who were detained were part of a group of 118 Austrian Muslims on an organised tour for young European Muslims. All bought tourist tickets for a tour of the cathedral on Wednesday. The six who started to pray faced charges of disturbing public order when they appeared before a judge in Córdoba. The Great Mosque of Córdoba was converted into a Christian church in 1236 after King Ferdinand III of Castile recaptured the city from the Muslims. The building later became the modern-day Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption

muslimnews.co.uk

What the Muslim report does not say is that the site was a Christian Monastery before the Islamic invaders built their Mosque - even using columns from that Christian structure. Nor does the Muslim report tell you is that that Church was the scene of recent similar Muslim outrages. What the report does tell you is that even Muslim "tourists" are agents of their Global Jihad.

Muslim colonists make claims to Christian lands in the name of Allah and tell the Dhimmis it's as a "counterbalance to radicalism" and feckless Western leaders will not confront them.

Would "The Greatest Generation" have allowed Japanese to build a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor during WWII? How can Americans today allow a mosque at "Ground Zero?"

How is it obvious that I believe in the myth of Muslim tolerance? I know that Cordoba was ‘tolerant’ to the extent that they ‘allowed’ you to worship if you paid a tax, that conversion away from other faiths was encouraged, but conversion away from Islam was punishable by death. They were so ‘tolerant’ in Cordoba that the word of a nonbeliever was not counted in court. The conditions of dhimmitude are well spelled out in their faith, and I wouldn't call it tolerance.

And yes, as I pointed out, they think that because Cordoba was once a mosque that they should own it today.

That too is spelled out in their faith.

Now you know why the Moslems at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem are busy throwing away dug-up dirt from the area. They want to eliminate the archaeological evidence that this was a Hebrew/Jewish site of the Second Temple, not a non-existent Palestinian/Moslem original site.

A mosque at the 9/11 site is an crowning insult to those who died or were injured on 9/11/01. It would be “Islam uber alles” right under our noses.

Question: What, if anything, will NY politicians do to derail this obscenity?

My guess is nothing, which means the wahabi's will just front the 100 million out of petty cash and the monstrosity will rise from the ashes of American victims.

I also doubt many NYawkers will actually give a sh*t.
