ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Good morning this rainy Monday! This morning someone asked me, "How do you like the lousy weather, Chaplain?" I thought a moment about the fact that my uniform was wet, my car had trouble starting, and about all those poor people stuck in the wall of traffic that inevitably occurs when Rte. 58 gets drenched. Then later I thought, how would we exist without the rain which makes all life on our planet possible? I remembered the old prayer in my prayer book, a blessing to God for the gift of wind and rain.
There is an old story, a beautiful story, about a boy who came home famished after long hours of play with his friends. His mother served him some sandwiches which satisfied his hunger and caused him to thank his mom. She said, "Don't thank me, son I only prepared the food." So he went to the grocer to thank him for the bread. "Don't thank me, young man, I only sell the food." He walked over to the baker and thanked him. "Son, you're thanking the wrong person, I only bake the bread." Wondering whom to thank, the boy went to the farmer to thank him. "Thank you for the fine bread that I eat every day," he said. "Don't thank me, my friend, I only plant the seeds. The earth, sunshine, rain and wind make the wheat grow, not I.
By now the boy was tired and hungry so the farmer invited him to join his family for dinner. As they were seated around the table, each person took a piece of bread from the basket and said together: Praise be Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who brings bread out of the earth."
So, today, let's thank God for the sunny days and the rainy ones, too--as well as for the food He gives us. Each day is truly a blessing!

Hey, Grammie, I have a neat article for you that I’m going to post in a minute - I’d like you to ping the prayer warriors to it but not for the usual reason.
This one is a huge praise!

Cute LOL!!!
Okay, no article to post. It’s premium content from my local paper and posting is not allowed.
So, the prayer of praise request follows:
Our Pastor’s wife, Nancy, needed a transplant that the insurance wouldn’t pay for. To them, it’s considered experimental. What they’re doing is transplanting islet cells from the pancreas into the liver, and removing the pancreas. She suffers from pancreatitis.
The hospital (University Medical Center) in Tucson and the doctors agreed to do the surgery if she could raise $150,000 cash! Well, the church members started praying, they went into a fund-raising frenzy, and the family contacted NTAF, the National Transplant Assistance Fund, for help. E-mails went out to other churches and family members all across the country. In about 4 weeks we raised $40,000.
Then, about a week and a half ago, Nancy received a letter from someone she did not know. The donor instructed her to schedule the surgery; they would cover the balance of the cost. Nancy told herself it couldn’t be, and she ignored the letter.
Then, she received another letter from another donor about 4 days later. At this point, she said “Okay, God, I’m listening now!” She scheduled the surgery after going through 8 different people at the hospital - nobody knew how to handle a cash-paying patient!
Then, just four days later, a third letter arrived! This was from a charitable organization, with the same offer as the first two.
Now, both the surgery and the post-op recovery are fully paid.
Is our God good, or what?
