Obama to New York: Drop dead.
That was the message Team Obama sent -- loud and clear -- yes terday in slashing anti-terror funding for the city.
But what do you expect?
The local congressional reps -- Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer and Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney, etc. -- have been such lapdogs for President Obama (at New York's expense), why wouldn't his team feel free to hang the city out to dry?
Under the plan, the feds will slice Gotham-area funds for transit and port security by $53 million -- 27 percent.
Never mind what happened less than two weeks ago -- when a terrorist parked a ticking bomb smack in the heart of Times Square.
AP Charles Schumer Never mind that the city suffered far more than anywhere else on 9/11 -- and today remains Target No. 1 for jihadists.
The Times Square attack -- if not the plots against local subways, bridges, synagogues, you name it -- should have reminded Obama & Co. where to set up its first line of defense. (Hint: It's not Pascagoula, Miss., which will get $1 million in port-security funding alone.)
Nor is there any doubt that terrorist operations aimed at New York are as broad-based as they are deadly. Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad, for example, says he was trained in far-off Pakistan.
And yesterday, FBI agents raided sites in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Maine in connection with Shahzad's attack. (Three people were arrested, though it wasn't clear if any played an active role in the Times Square plot. )
Obviously, local counterterror efforts require money.
And since attacks on New York are meant to hurt the whole nation, Washington has a duty to provide it.
Certainly the city's congressional delegation has an obligation to fight...

Bummer sounds like he is just begging NYC to go Republican. They might even get a more-than-RINO mayor if this keeps up.
Now if he will cut every other department by 27%, he might must get a little respect. Go Obama...do it again, and again, and again. Do it with Pakistan, the PA, ALL across the board..cut...cut.

Is it profiling to make it more difficult for people of certain suspect countries to become a naturalized American? Shahzad provides an answer to that one. Given the asymmetric threats and tactics employed by our enemies, our International & counterterrorism policies need to become more aggressive and proactive. It may not make everyone happy, but our peace and safety could well require the will to take "irregular steps" against known threats. A few final thoughts... "If you aren't pre-emptive, you could be pre-empted." So, a concern over political correctness could get a lot of Americans killed. Our Founding Fathers never contemplated having to deal with a Global Jihad. Lastly, as we learned in Times Square last weekend when Duane Jackson, a Vietnam veteran saw something and alerted law enforcement, if you see something that "Doesn't look right" report it.") I think Obama is a muslim and communist.
So what did Gotham City do to deserve this? This isn’t your generic Congressional pork we’re talking about.
...and BTW, we’re letting them build a mosque within throwing distance of you guessed it....
GB show...
The World Trade Center Towers have not yet been re-built, but there is one building right across from ground zero that’s on schedule to open soon: it’s a mosque. Hey if you want to build a mosque there, whatever, go for it - but what has people really upset is that the dedication date is set for (you guessed it) 9/11/11. We have American kids getting tossed out of school for wearing American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo (a Mexican beer holiday) because they were being insensitive. But it’s totally cool to open a mosque right across the street from ground zero on 9/11?
What’s Up Chuckie? Schummer gets what he deserves, and so do all the NY putzes who voted for him
That’s very smart of him. He’ll carry New York in 2012, so why care?
Maybe Obama WANTS the city to be attacked. I would give him excuse to declare US martial law, something GWB, with all of his faults, had the strength not to do.
They balked at having the terror trials. Embarrassed the big zero. Can’t let them do that without punishment.
He doesn’t care about putting Americans at risk.
....Never mind that [New York City] suffered far more than anywhere else on 9/11 — and today remains Target No. 1 for jihadists....
That explains it all.
obama, also known as Muhammad Obongo, IS a jihadist!!!!
This is a gift forcing Patterson and Bloomberg to raise taxes to “cover the shortfall”. Said taxes will, of course, be approved as critical to the security of the city and the state. NY will never turn red, so this isn’t a risk for BO or the Dems.
Lord knows where all that money will end up going as it sure wasn’t being used for homeland security any way.
We are well on our way into interesting times. I wouldn't be so confident in conventional wisdom.
Looks like Chucky, Bloomie, Nadler, et al have taken one for the team — right up the old wazoo.
Two thoughts:
1. No bad deed goes unpunished.
2. Couldn’t happen to a bigger gaggle of morons.
And the damn GOP can’t find two decent candidates to run against these Senators??????
Wonder what Obama is really giving them under the table?
The Republicans are in cahoots with them.
Sure it is. What makes you think any of that money would be spent wisely? It’s all a giant con.
