Just when we thought flag@whitehouse.govwhich appears to be alive and well when clickedwas scary and invasiveit seems the Obama administrations Census Bureau has outdone itself. A US census worker, driving a metallic gray Ford Taurus-type car, has been reported to be combing through the Memphis, TN suburb of Germantown knocking on doors asking people for information on their neighbors.

ESAD would be my response. But then again it wouldn’t be very Christian. Perhaps “I’ll pray for you as you get the heck off my property”
Just let them try it at my house.
This is standard procedure for the census.
Isn’t this SOP if they don’t get answers at the door after a few attempts?.
Some suspect it is because preliminary figures indicate millions of missing people ~ the "rapture" perhaps, but most likely in formerly Hispanic neighborhoods where folks have given up and gone back home.
Obama and his people are scared to death they've lost potential voters.
funny. one of my leftard co-workers was complaining about being called for additional info from the census folks.
he said it was like being telmarketed by the government.
I told him it was the change he voted for.
I saw one of these guys driving one of those cars one morning when I came back home from taking my wife to school. (I work from home.) He waved at me and then parked out in front of my house for a while. I of course didn’t answer anything on the census except number of people in the house. He didn’t knock on our door or anything. I suppose he knows my race now since he saw me park there.
I worked for the 1990 census. We contacted landlords and neighbors of those who did not respond. There was a fair amount of guesswork involved. I imagine the guesswork is much greater today!
wow, my brother lives there, I will have to ask him about this.
I turned my Census form in wit hal lof the information required by the law of the land: “2”.
Our census guy came back by and wanted to ask the missus the rest of the questiosn on the short form. She replied that we had already given a sufficient and truthful answer according to the Constitution. So the census guy asked her again, saying that he was obliged to ask twice. And again she refused. Also told him that we weren’t going to respond so kindly next time.
Now we’ll see what’s next.

I worked on the 2000 Census, as a supervisor.
It is done based on property addresses, to get the headcounts for each address.
I don’t think “guesswork” to a great degree is legal. They try to avoid double counting/omitting people with 2nd homes, or college students, etc.
I do not recall making things up; as much as that may disappoint folks in some circles.
So far I have only seen the bus riding goth(sex indeterminate) Census temp pounding on doors in my neighborhood...and I somehow have missed all 3 of its’ visits.
“Jack” came to visit me on Sunday. I told him I shredded the census and that I wouldn’t give any info but name, age and the fact that I lived here. He said he could ask for info on me from my neighbors. I asked if he was proud to be doing it. The look on his face told me he was ashamed of himself. He said it was the law. I said I would be fine with being made the example. I was wearing my “I’m the NRA in Virginia and I vote.” t-shirt. I don’t trust my neighbors anymore than I trust ole Jack. Doesn’t the Govt. know everything about me anyway and can’t they just make shiit up as they see fit? Isn’t that was the govt. does all the time? Whey do they need this b.s.?
happening in florida also.
I turned in my census with only the required information, nothing extraneous. Got a letter in the mail telling me I was required by law to answer, and a second census form to fill in. I trashed it and am waiting for “them” to come for me. I think the first question on that census form should have been, “Are you an American citizen? If not, discard this form”. Why should non-Americans have input? Don’t you think it suspicious they didn’t ask? I figure it was because Obummer then would not have been able to fill it in!

This is standard procedure for the census and has been for hundreds of years now. There are marks in census records from the early 1800’s when the labor workers were in the fields and couldn’t answer that they would contact a neighbor to gather the information.

P.S. The official SOP is to leave two Notice of Visits and if no one is home on the third physical visit (the max number of times allowed), then the worker must attempt to find a proxy for that address.
