Technically speaking, the Seneca's "protector" is Great Britain. They were allied in the American Revolution and this situation was dealt with in the Treaty of Paris.
If anyone is letting down the Seneca it's UK ~ as usual.
When it comes to the Oneida and Tuscarora, they were, for the most part, American allies ~ and when it came to being protected the US government was supposed to protect them ~ but it didn't.

They are not the only ones who are highly pissed over this new law.
The tens of thousands of us who have been getting our tobacco products via the Indian reservations are just a little incensed as well.
This mostly came as the result of pressure from NY Congress-Critters including "Chuck-you Schmuker" and NY State legislators who after raising the taxes on tobacco to one of the highest in the nation, were trying every which way they could to kill the Indian business so they could reap the rewards in additional revenue--or so they believed.
Bottom line is our FASCIST gubmint can declare a legal product verbotten from being mailed using the Postal Service, what is to keep them from doing the same to any other product they decide they want to control?
You can take this to the bank: Next will be law forcing all Internet sales to charge taxes and remit same to the States from which the transactions emanate.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am at The POTUS handling of the Indian Question.
The quaint and colorful American Aborigines will no longer be able to just say "White man speak with forked tongue," because Obama has offered to share that heavy burden with us.

Isn’t that a hoot? Yes, now it’s Whitey and Blackie who speak with forked tongue. Good one.
I’ll have to admit to finding it very funny when a Black or Hispanic leader gets called on the red carpet for dissing minority interests.
Let’s see how golden boy scampers around this one.
Remember, he can’t just lay it off on White racists this time.
