After seeing her huge lead dwindle to two points in the California GOP gubernatorial primary, Meg Whitman has produced a new ad touting her firm stance against illegal immigration:

Whitman's primary opponent Steve Poizner has been attacking her for opposing the Arizona immigration law. In her new ad, Whitman says she wants national guard troops on the border and opposes amnesty and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, but she doesn't reverse course on the Arizona law.

Meg Whitman = John McCain. Both are liars. Damn RINOS!!
What has Meg Whitman been lying about?
Wait a minute. I thought holding a firm anti-illegal-immigration position was forbidden in CA!!!!! In any case, Meg Whitman is just pandering to the conservative base. She doesn’t really mean what her ad suggests IMHO.
Well, she’s lying to you right now. Just like McShame.
Sadly, all the governor candidates have pretty much the same stance on illegal immigration.
EXACTLY and the worse part of it is it shows how little respect they have for the intelligence of the average American.. they think we will not remember their policy flips
With Bennett’s defeat in Utah and the obvious sentiments being expressed by the Tea Party people and many others I expect we are going to see just about every “moderate” Republican (and not a few rats) suddenly lurch to the right. This is fine with me but the obvious downside is that, once elected, they simply go back to business as usual. Conservatives must give as much support as possible to the most conservative candidate but in the event that the “moderate” wins they must then stay on top of that person and hector, complain, kvetch, yell, criticize and generally make life miserable for him/her every time that person votes wrong or “crosses the aisle” in pursuit of some stupid compromise that will further weaken America. And in every election the incumbent should be confronted with opposition from the right just to demonstrate that no one is safe and that they had better damn well fight for this nation and not cave to the leftist rats who have brought it to the brink of destruction.

The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act ("IIRIRA") was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1996 and provided a broad series of amendments to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 ("INA"). Section 287(g) of IIRIRA was Congress' response to the overburdened federal immigration system. More specifically, Section 287(g) authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") to deputizes state and local law enforcement personnel so that these local officers can enforce federal immigration laws. The language of section 287(g) is written broadly, allowing ICE discretion in specifying the duties of these local officers, the duration of their authority, and ICEs supervision of these officers.
"SACRAMENTO, Calif.Meg Whitman, the Republican front-runner in the California gubernatorial primary, said Tuesday that Arizona is taking the wrong approach to illegal immigration with its tough new law."
snip
"Her opponent in the California GOP primary, state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, wants to end many state-funded services for illegal immigrants and their children.
He has sought to make illegal immigration a campaign issue, airing television ads in which he says California's economy is being ruined because politicians have failed to tackle the issue.
In a statement from his campaign Tuesday, Poizner reiterated his support for ending non-emergency services to illegals and revoking business licenses of companies that employ them, saying those should be the first steps taken in California."
Meg shouldn’t be surprised if no one buys her sudden interest in the border.
CA Gov. Race: Whitman’s Lead Collapses
BY John McCormack

Less than three weeks ago, a SurveyUSA poll showed Meg Whitman leading Republican rival Steve Poizner by 22 points in the GOP gubernatorial primary. The OC Register reports that lead has dropped to two points:
Not long ago Meg Whitman had such a huge lead 50 points over Steve Poizner for the GOP nomination for governor, many folks thought the race was over and started sizing up her chances against the Democrats Jerry Brown.
When she came in to talk to our Editorial Board last week, Whitman brushed off news that some polls showed Poizner had closed the gap to about 10 points. Still 10 points isnt anything to scoff at, especially with only a little more than a month before the polls open.
Well, this week ABCs SurveyUSA poll shows that Poizner is now 2 points behind her 39 percent to 37 percent.
Will Whitman be the first candidate to be defeated because of her opposition to the Arizona immigration law?
After initially expressing concerns about the immigration law, Steve Poizner gave the Arizona law his full backing. Ben Smith notes that Poizner has been hammering Whitman on the issue lately:
If Poizner take over the CA GOP, we’ll look back at Schwarzenegger as an ultraconservative. I can’t believe “conservatives” are actually pushing a candidate who would be the most left wing candidate in CA history. Don’t complain to me when you lose your job to an illegal or companies fleeing the state.
If I am a paid member of Meg Whitman’s staff, someone owes me some money.
I don’t know anything about Poizner . . doubt if he is a conservative either. It just is a good issue for him in the Republican primary.
I dunno... would Ronald Reagan send thousands of dollars to democrat presidential candidates over the years? Would Ronald Reagan endorse Barbara Boxer for senate?
Good heavens open your eyes.
Death bed conversions simply aren't very convincing.
>Is Meg Whitman really just Ronald Reagan in a skirt?<
Bwahahahahahaha!
Not.
More like McCain in a skirt, but thanks for playing.
