PPP has polled Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul for the first time in the potential 2012 Republican presidential race nationally, and their presence reduces support for the other candidates, particularly Mitt Romney. What was a decent advantage for Romney in a three-way race with Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee is now a four-way draw, with Paul in a distant fifth and Romney slipping to a close second.
Huckabee has 25 to Romneys 23, Gingrichs 21, Palins 20, and Pauls 8, with only 3% undecided versus last months 17% with more limited options. Gingrichs entry into the field erodes Romneys support among conservatives the most of the three candidates polled last month. Conservatives are 72% of the primary electorate.
Romney led among that group 34 to 28 for Huckabee and 25 for Palin, but he now is tied for third with Palin at only 21, with Huckabee at 26, Gingrich 23, and Paul 7.

Romney is a friggin joke!!! No spine, no guts, not conservative.
I’m going to get ill. The polling outfits and the MSM are choosing the candidates yet again.
The only one there I could support is Gingrich, reluctantly.
Oh well, obama won’t be so bad with a republican congress.
Three of the four are going no where.
I like where Palin is sitting right now. She has a very good chance to get the nomination in 2012
THAT MANIPULATION WILL NOT WORK ON ME AGAIN. IF THERE IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE RUNNING, I WILL VOTE A WRITE IN. IT WILL BE THE FAULT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT FOR NOT PUTTING UP A CLEAR CONSERVATIVE.
GOP, ARE YOU LISTENING?
Yuck on all counts. I hope someone else comes to the front soon.
Could I vote for anyone of them if 0bama was the alternative? You betcha. I will keep praying for a better option though.
The Republican nominee in 2012 will be none of those.
Yes, and so are Huckabee, and to a point even Newt!
It is far too early for polls anyway, and more likely than not, it will end up being someone not even on the radar right now.
Why is this junk continued to be posted. I have never heard of the poll. It’s almost like the only people we have to vote for are RINOS.
Then who is it going to be ?
I think Sarah Palin is destined to be President. I am just not sure when. God Bless Her
Sarah’s right where she needs to be. I’ve maintained that she NEEDS Mitt (and the others) to give her a little shield from the media and the WH and the establishment who will do everything to sink her candidacy. She’s running, she knows this is her time. Even if she loses the nom she can come back in 2016 and finish the job.
Palin 2012.
Sarah Palin is NOT a RINO.
naive sometimes. but shes real.
Who is the new guy that has been coming on gang-busters of recent? He’s a new Congressman or Senator.
Tell you what, if he can continue to display a good fundamental understanding of Conservative matters, I’ll vote for him before I’d vote for any of these four.
And you’re right. The media is trying to act as if it’s business as usual. The Tea Party is going to seriously screw with that effort. Just ask that old Republican duffer who got his walking papers on Saturday.
PPL is a long time ‘rat polling group - take their results with a grain of salt i.e. who they really want as the nominee.
This is dreadful.
If this is the best the GOP can offer then we are doomed to have 4 more years of Obama.
