Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.
After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.
Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.
In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."
Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

You are right, I wouldn’t spend one nickel on this woman or her lousy book.
Ron Paul attracts young conservatives (lackeys to you) to the cause more than any other candidate (including Sarah P.). He has a clear honest message that the rest of the GOP needs to adopt.
Establishment Republicans that win the primaries will not be able to retain the Ron Paul voters because they are viewed as not authentically conservative. Fakers.
“I remember Reagan growing the federal government and giving illegals amnesty. Thus, unlike some folks around here, I fail to get all tingly at the mere mention of his name. “
I remember Reagan giving amnesty for 1 or 2 million and the laws that went with it were never enforced...not once in 24 years.
Think Reagan would sign amnesty now for 20 million? I’m just trying to gauge how dumb you are.
It's a pretty clear choice.
Ron Paul CANNOT win, and if his followers (young or old) refuse to vote for a Republican candidate who might be more conservative (definitely more interested in national defense and keeping Americans alive), then they will bear the heavy burden of America's turning into a Marxist state.
I only pray that there are not enough in the category you describe to destroy this great nation.
I promise to promise ;-)
Reagan cut taxes and thus doubled the revenues for the federal government during his term in office.
The problem was, the Democrat controlled House and Senate more than tripled their spending.
As for the illegal immigrants Reagan gave amnesty to, they arrived here over a period of more than twenty years, came over at a rate of roughly 35,000 per year, and assimilated into our nation rather well.
That doesn’t even come close to what is taking place today.
So rather than simply agree that what Laura said was unfortunate, some people come to this forum to trash Reagan so she can look better.
That’s pretty much what the Democrats do. They trash our best leaders rather than acknowledge that what they are doing is wrong.
As for a tingle feeling going down my leg, I don’t get those for other men. And I’m rather surprised when I see FReepers who think of themselves as ‘in good standing’ use such imagery, something our nation’s socialists have an almost solid lock on.
Homosexual intimations aren’t something the Conservatives I know use. Why it ranks right up there with Tea Bagging, and other imaginative communist/fascist/marxist/socialist slanders.
My recollection was something more like 3 or 4 million. You could be right, though.
and the laws that went with it were never enforced...not once in 24 years.
Gosh, what a surprise. Nobody could have seen that coming. And now, here we sit with 15-20 million more. Go figure.
Think Reagan would sign amnesty now for 20 million?
No but, that's beside the point.
Im just trying to gauge how dumb you are.
Oh, I'm so hurt. Go gauge yourself.
“So rather than simply agree that what Laura said was unfortunate, some people come to this forum to trash Reagan so she can look better.”
It won’t help either her, or numbnuts George W Bush, who would have absolutely destroyed our country with his “amnesty with chain migration”
Say, did you hear that Laura Bush said she is pro-choice, and approves of homosexual rights? Oh yes, that’s the actual topic of this thread. Imagine that.
I know that when I go off topic to held RINO’s feet to the fire around here, I am asked no so politely to move on.
Perhaps we should just ask the RINO clan on this thread to move on, since Reagan and Rush are not the topic of the thread.
LMAO
I think I saw the video of these two dancing on stage a couple of hours ago.
That’s certainly my take on it.
20 million illegals amnesty
05 each chain migration family members
05 years of half a million more being able to come across the border with green card work permits
05 years of one million more being able to come across the border with green card work permits
10 years of two million more being able to come across the border with green card work permits
Twenty year total, 147.5 million.
Mexico could send over about 4 million nationals per year, and never reduce it’s population.
And as this would take place over twenty years, this nation would turn into the newest state of Mexico. It sure wouldn’t be the other way around, what with diversity being king.
So what do we tell our children, grand-children and future generations? Sorry, but I gots mine?
“Thats certainly my take on it.

Ron Paul CANNOT win...........
Sorry, that argument is invalid. It is the same scare tactic that establishment Republicans used against Reagan in 1980.
The people who will be responsible for 4 mores years of Obama will the Republican party that will again refuse to nominate a real conservative. Look at the poll numbers. Our very own "Breck girl" Mitt Romney will win the nomination easily.
The task ahead of us is to elect a Republican who IS conservative. We have a long time ahead of us, and the primaries going on right now show promise.
btw, if you think Ron Paul is anything like Ronald Reagan........well, you've got to be kidding. Ronald Reagan was an electable conservative. Ron Paul is neither.
There are around 167 languages dealt with by the LAUSD.
Around 1990, the births to illegal immigrants at Los Angeles County run Hospitals accounted for 95% of the births.
Less than 50% of the adult males working in the city of Los Angeles can speak or function at an 8th grade level of English.
Over 95% of the outstanding felony warrants in the City of Los Angeles have the names of illegal immigrants on them.
Even in the 80s, a massive segment of the students in the LAUSD were the children of illegal immigrants. I don’t remember the exact figures, but it was something like one third to one half.
” Say, did you hear that Laura Bush said she is pro-choice, and approves of homosexual rights? Oh yes, thats the actual topic of this thread. Imagine that.”
Yeah, how bout that?
That is probably the main reason I left L A in the fall of 2006. That and the fact that I knew the California economy was going to collapse.
;-)
You know, I was born in the town in which I still live.
I worked at the hospital where I was born for 26 years.
As such, I spent more time working in that hospital than any single Mexican national ever spent in what is now the United States, while it was Mexican territory.
Over 155 years later, I am now told this land was stolen from them, despite my nation paying for it, as well as fighting a war to win it.
If this land was stolen from anyone, the Spaniards stole it from the Indians in California, when they issued the large land grants in the 17 and 1800s, if not in part before that.
The majority of Mexican citizens today, have mostly Spanish European blood in them.
So much for the Aztec descendant’s supposed claim to my region, especially in light of the fact that it’s very iffy if the Aztecs ever ventured this far north, and even more questionably made ownership claims at any time.

I couldn’t help but laugh at that, even though I love DoughtyOne.
