Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.
After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.
Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.
In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."
Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

I ahve been staying off them for a little while as those threads drive me mad.
it’s bad enough we have perverts running around and hanging out at public bathrooms , dog parks etc but it’s sickening when we have someone who is supposed to be on our side and with the majority of this country say they have no problem because they have a homo friend and they are nice
ARF
maybe one day they will go their friends freak parades and see who they they really and see how disgusting and perverted they are
I agree with you 100%.
She is a fake to the extent that all Bushes rode to fame and power on the back of the uninformed Republican voters. These voters are just unable to select good nominees.
I think what dangus meant is that GWB was just a “grim and bear it” conservative on issues such as life but really was untrue to his own liberal beliefs. Notice how he shunned the Jerry Falwell funeral, as GHWB shunned the death of Lee Atwater in 1991.
Maybe they are not out of touch with mainstream American, for such voters keep nominating awful candidates like the Bushes, McPain, Specter, McC, and Orrin G. Hatch.
sadly they're just too thick or ignorant to know what they're voting for.
I've had lots of people say they have voted for someone and when I asked them do you support open borders the homosexual agenda, give freebies to illegals, etc they say no they don't agree with that but then I asked them well you have just voted for that they say , well I never knew that I just vote for the R or the D
What an enormous let down. I used to look up to this woman...now I toss her on the pile of liberal women trash that litters our society.
FULB
LOL!
Even more offensive is Laura Bush’s decision to wear an “I’m married to Stupid” T-shirt during some of the book signings.
Enough is enough!
You are killing me GH with both #143 and #146. Thanks for the laughs. What is amazing is we can all imagine those two being the case after watching the Laura Bush-larry King video clip. That is probably in her next Book.
If you watched the Larry King youtube video you could see Laura projecting the sad emotions saying “I am so pained having to take a side on these issues and get someone mad at me boo-hoo-hoo.. I want everyone to love me and buy my book.”. Has ‘Mr character’ husband GWB ever showed compassionate Laura a picture of an aborted baby?? We know Larry King wouldnt on his liberal show ! That would have been worth a million. Maybe "The View" and Joy Behar shows are next, prime ground for this sort of dribble.
That interview killed the book!
I must say, I’m really disappointed. But really, until you have interaction with someone, you just can’t know them.
*sigh*
Yeah ;-)
This is hardly a revelation. She alluded to being pro abort several times over the years. And all pro-aborts are pro gay marriage. The two causes go hand-in-hand.
Dubya broke on of Murphy’s Lawa....
” Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself “
Lawa? ...6: AM...need coffee.
If true, Laura Bush is lost.
Nice commentary and I agree 100%.
I used to laugh at the guy who wore a placard in times square that read: The end is coming soon. I now think he was right.
