As a New Yorker I hope the judge will pay the state the difference to keep his union buddies working.

I feel the same way. I listen to talk radio constantly and I have had to cut back my listening because I just get so depressed. Glen Beck is good too but after I watch him I feel deflated. Free Republic is good at least you can vent
somewhat. Dont get me wrong i love knowing whats going on but I feel like I am going to explode too. Yesterday in the car I turned off the news talk and popped in a CD and started singing and I felt a bit better if not just for a moment but then I have to watch who I listening to as some of my favorites have been shooting of their moths about how they dislike republicans yada yada yada so even some of my music is tainted. SERENITY NOW :)

We sure have a huge group of communists judges running America.

A lot of people replied to this article and I’m not sure everyone knows the background.

The NY governor has decided to furlough state workers but is giving HUGE, in some cases up to 29% pay increases to aides and others:

Gov. Paterson has granted stunning pay raises of up to 29 percent to several key aides — even as he slaps furloughs on 100,000 state workers, and his lieutenant governor threatens layoffs. The shocking move by the lame-duck governor involves five members of his embattled press office, whose two top-ranking members abruptly resigned earlier this year amid what they privately called misleading statements made by the governor.

That is why the judge has stopped the furloughs. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2512069/posts

Don't be too depressed. Just be as prepared as you can.

The coming train wreck is an opportunity to start anew with hopefully some lessons learned about government control of everything.

What gives the Feds jurisdiction to intervene here?

That was my question. DO it anyway. What jurisdiction do they have to interfere?

"That is why the judge has stopped the furloughs."

Thanks for the insight. This underscores one of my MANY pet peeves with today's media - They NEVER link to the judicial opinions that they're reporting on. They want the reader to take their interpretation of the facts (to the extent that they even distribute any facts). Why they can't link to the decision in these cases, is a mystery.

The state of NY needs to tell the federal asshat to shove it, then congress needs to impeach the cockroach for overstepping his constitutional limits.

Their mistake was not furloughing the judge first.

I think the State Legislature and Governor's office should be put on furlough first anyway. Paterson has raised his staff's salary by double digits, twice since he's taken office.

Cuomo tried to take an additional week's pay from workers back in 1991 because they had spent the State into debt. It was blocked by a Judge back then too. Workers have two weeks pay held back when hired. It isn't paid back to them until they leave State service. Cuomo wanted a third week to help bail himself out.

Oh I understand alright. Gov gives raises to staff while trying to furlough and layoff state workers. No supsrise
here in fact I am sure the raises will stay and guess what taxes will have to be increased to keep the state workers
working. Sounds like a sneaky but efficient plan the only ones who will be screwed in the long run are the tax payers.
I wonder did the article note if the Judge ordered the raises null and void?

It's the second time he's raised his staff's salaries. The first time was in early '09. The State Assembly and it's staff received salary hikes as well in 2009.

Do what?

The Judge isn’t interested in tackling waste or preventing it.Just in enforcing the law.

I live in nys and know how you feel. Sometimes I feel so alone in my thoughts and wonder if its just me.

However I end up back on talk radio and fr and other sites for some sanity.

I recently took a trip to lexington concord mass and stood there for about an hour w my thoughts and felt a sense of strength I have in a long time.

Glen beck is right. We need to go back to the founders and realize what they meant and recaputre the spirit and take this damn nation back. Damn the rinos and faux conservative pussies.

The time is coming and you need to be prepared for what awaits, no matter what happens.

Agreed.

Congressional pensions should be eliminated. Especially when they are voted out of office.
