I didn’t even join the Marines. Does this mean I get a Congressional Medal of Honor?

good grief.

This is not a USMC medal. The whole thing was the idea of a British general.

I have absolutely no first-hand experience in this matter.

However, I'd argue that a shoot / don't shoot situation must be a pretty hard decision to make.

Not hard enough, however, to get a medal for. Courage under fire is one thing, "Making a tough decision" is a whole other one, and what training is for.

Next, medals will be handed out for showing up on time, dressing properly, playing well with others.....

Do you also receive a medal if you shoot yourself in the foot?

And a good Marine would decline to accept, even if it meant a court marshal.

Like kids' soccer (or SEIU) when everyone gets a trophy, regardless of participation or performance.

I wouldn’t brag if I were you. I heard the AF wants to give Bronze Stars to UAV pilots.

I agree with Rush the only way this medal is meaningful is posthumous. Otherwise, it will generate a whole new category of civilians saved and how easy it is to get the medal. We can now recruit among the Amish, given, they can get a medal for not fighting, they need to do something to justify that exemption from ZerOcare.

Ya....it’s called a Purple Heart!

I was a Nuke Weapons Specialist, do I get one for not firing?

“I’d really like the medal, but.....ah shucks....You got your key?....I got mine! What’s the code?”

No doubt such metals will be awarded posthumously.

Air Force commander, British Commander and some other non-combatant. Well they're trying their best to destroy the combat mentality in the Armed Forces. So we have a successful snatch and grab, then 3 SEALs get taken out of action by lawyers. Marines take a casualty and successfully repulse an ambush then get blamed for civilian deaths.

Any special operator, Marine or service member fighting in a FAO is now subject to the PC rules of engagement. Good luck with that. We should just pack it in and report to the nearest mosque for indoctrination, humping goats and beating women.

If they want “restraint” they should hire and train police officers.

If it is really SO important to NOT kill people in Afghanistan, then we should bring our troops home.
