Raquel Welch has blamed the Pill for the decline of the institution of marriage.
The Hollywood actress said the widespread use of oral contraceptives had led to a breakdown in sexual morality and fuelled the growth of rampant promiscuity among the young.
Miss Welch, 69, said the situation has grown so grave that 'these days nobody seems able to keep it in their pants or honour a commitment'
While she argued that it carried some benefits, she said the enduring legacy of the Pill has been social anarchy.
Miss Welch has been a sex symbol since she sprang to international fame for her role in the 1966 film One Million Years BC - and was voted by readers of Playboy magazine as 'the most desired female of the 1970s'.
But in an article to mark the introduction of the Pill to the U.S. market 50 years ago, she distanced herself from the fruits of the sexual revolution of which she was a part. 'The growing proliferation of birth control methods has had an awesome effect on both sexes and led to a sea change in moral values,' she said in an article for television channel CNN entitled 'It's SexO'Clock in America'. A positive consequence of the Pill was it had 'made it easier for a woman to choose to delay having children until after she established herself in a career', she said. Miss Welch, who has three failed marriages behind her, added that a 'significant and enduring' effect on women was the idea that they could have sex without any consequences - with the result that fewer today saw marriage as a 'viable option'.

"Miss Welch, Miss Welch -- come ride my dinosaur!!"
When I was in college, two brothers a couple of doors down from my second-floor room put up a poster from that movie featuring Raquel. The dorm was closed at the end of that year, with the opening of a couple of new ones nearby.
Many years later, I went by the campus for something, and lo, the old dorm was still there, and I could see up in the closed-in room, the poster still hanging there. <snif!>
Good times!
UPDATE TO ALL
The posted Daily Mail article references this CNN article, authored by Raquel herself.

There, fixed up a bit.
That’s some display of problem solving.
A nice example of the fallen condition of conservative men and women and what Raquel Welch is talking about.
Thats some display of problem solving.
What I said was absolutely true. That's what happens here....I've seen it many, many times.
A nice example of the fallen condition of conservative men and women and what Raquel Welch is talking about.
I'm not sure that one can honestly compare a simple desire on the part of healthy men to see a quality example of the female form with the destruction of marriage....that's quite a stretch, wouldn't you say?
I saw her about a year ago on a tv show. She is one fabulous looking lady for her age. I hope I look that good!
You chose wisely, grasshopper.
If You promise that you'll take the pill,
I'll keep trying!
It’s the pill in combination with the rise of the amoral Left.
“Men would love an easy, invisible, birth control method, it would make us bulletproof and untouchable.”
Uh, that would be called a vasectomy—takes about 20 minutes.
Easily undone is it?
Didn’t Ms Welch win the Golden Globes Award for that movie?
You took the words right out of my mouth!!!!!!!!!! Where I teach we are having a baby shower for a teacher assistant this week.... she is having her 3rd child w/ a third different man.
Last week at the table in the cafeteria a little girl said,”Mrs...., My baby brother’s daddy has 12 kids and two on the way!” She is 7 & as sweet and innocent as they come. My face froze in a smile/grimace & I mumbled something lame.
She was so proud.
We live in the state w/ the highest number of single parent/ teen births in the country. I’m a big proponent of birth control, but it seems that only responsible people are using it.
No end in sight, no end in sight.
Ummmmm . . . . . no, Raquel. It was the garbage that you and the other Hollyweird liberals have been cramming down our throats for decades that caused it.
It’s a shame that someone who looks as good as Raquel didn’t come with a usable brain.
Pornography treats people as mere objects to be used for our own selfish gratification. Pornography also destroys the meaning of true love. The Bible is clear: “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity” (Ephesians 5:3).
Never forget that what goes on in our minds eventually influences the way we act. Jesus warned, “I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart”
(Matthew 5:28).
Make it your goal to keep your mind pure, as well as your
body.

Well I guess there are those things called condoms. If I’m not mistaken, they are available FREE.
I'm glad my wife has found me responsible enough for 10 so far.
