Rasmussen Reports ^ | May 10, 2010 | Rasmussen Reports

Congressman Joe Sestak has moved ahead of incumbent Arlen Specter in their Senate primary match-up with just over a week left before Pennsylvania Democrats go to the polls to pick their nominee.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Democratic Primary voters in the state shows Sestak earning 47% of the vote while Specter picks up 42%. This marks the first time Sestak has held the advantage in the race.

Specter’s support has slipped from 48% in March to 44% a month ago to 42% today.

The numbers for Sestak have been going in the opposite direction from 37% in March to 42% a month ago to 47% today.

Currently, 3% favor some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided.

The primary vote is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 18.

It was nice to see Bennett get the boot in Utah this weekend. Well, here in PA, another RINO is finally getting his. Specter trails by 5 with a week to go vs. leftist Joe Sestak. Another local poll has him down 5 as well. Apparently the Democrats don't want Specter anymore than the Republicans want him. Adios Arlen Specter... good riddance to bad rubbish!

I know very little about the politics there, but it would seem that Spector would be the easiest Dem to beat in November.

I would love to see Spector out of office and living under the same laws he and his ilk pushed off on the rest of us.

Obama can try, he’s about the only one who can save him. Fast Eddie Rendell has been trying, but Fast Eddie might be more unpopular than Specter. Obama is still relatively popular to Democrats around here, but they know Specter’s not a Democrat. He’s not a Republican either, he a Specter-crat.

The Sestak ads have been very effective, they just show Specter posing with George Bush, Rick Santorum, and even Sarah Palin.... if you’re a Democrat, what more is there to say?

You are correct. It would be better if Specter hung on till November and then got booted.

In the end gamblers die broke and traitors die alone. Just ask Jumpin' Jim Jeffords.

Sestak is about 9% behind the Republican challenger Toomey.

As a PA resident, I would rather defeat Specter in November than see him defeated in the primary.

OK, any defeat of Specter is good.

We really need Pat Toomey as our Senator.

On Intrade, which I tend to trust more than polls if there is enough volume (which there isn’t yet), but Sestek is up by 50 points over Specter, and the GOP candidate is up 20 points over the Dem.

I’ll check to be sure. I’m quoting another Freeper who said yesterday it was 8.8% lead for Toomey.

Incorrect by me - it's now only a 2% lead for Toomey over Sestak according to Rasmussen.

"Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters May 6, 2010 "

"Against Sestak, however, Toomey gets just 42% support, while his Democratic opponent earns 40% of the vote. Ten percent (10%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and nine percent (9%) are undecided. Last month, Toomey posted a 47% to 36% lead over Sestak. "
