"the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the [20th] century" -Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the collapse of the Soviet Union...
"World democratic opinion has yet to realize the alarming implications of President Vladimir Putin's State of the Union speech on April 25, 2005, in which he said that the collapse of the Soviet Union represented the 'greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.'

Does it include the fly-bys? I was watching on vesti.ru and they cut over to the Kiev ceremony as the flybys were starting.

Beautiful parade. One of the comments on Youtube that caught my attention: "In Russia they are military parades celebrating noble victory. In the 'West' we have homosexual parades celebrating 'progress'. As you can tell, the 'West's sun is indeed setting."

God Bless Orthodox Russia and the Russian People!

We thank them for their patient endurance and sascrices during the demonic era of Marxism and the defeat of the heathen Germanic Nazis!

I’m surprised Sec. of State Hilliary Clinton wasn’t there.
You know, just to show respect and support, etc.

The commies have chosen to kill you with kindness this time.

Total domination, with a smile, and warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart.

What fools are we to trust them.

Like “Satan,” the communists can always count on human frailty.

Many of these posts are off topic. I watched the parade live and in replay in full via satellite. Nothing surprises me here. One of the more interesting aspects of the parade that is missed so far by virtually all, is that the point of the parade in Russia is to honor the heroes who fought, lost lives and loved ones, and rebuilt their homeland. That Angela Merkel sat next to Putin during the event seems to have been missed here.

Also Marching in the parade marking the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany were troops from England, Poland, France and USA.

Russia does this every year to honor her veterans and war dead. That is honorable. That there were despicable tyrants running the place has less to do with the country than the fact the Russians honor their nation properly today. They fought, won, saved their homeland. That is worth a celebration every year. The past is history.

We need to focus on eliminating communism here at home.

kronos77, eleni121; proud members of the FR KGB Putin Fan Club. You should be ASHAMED for overlooking the many evil things this SOB has done and is doing still! If Russia is so pro-Capitalist and religion-tolerant today, why on Earth are they building up Marxist dictator Chavez, Fidel and Raul Castro, the ChiComs and Ahmadinejad? Obama and he are working together to achieve the same one-world government goal. Ahmadinejad, btw, was likely a Russian plant.

From CBS-News, July 29, 2006:

Chavez Vows To 'Stand By Iran'
After Oil Talks In Tehran, Venezuelan Leader Called 'Brother' By Ahmedinejad

"Chavez pledged that his country would 'stay by Iran at any time and under any condition,' state television reported. Ahmadinejad said he saw in Chavez a kindred spirit." "'We do not have any limitation in cooperation,' Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying. 'Iran and Venezuela are next to each other and supporters of each other. Chavez is a source of a progressive and revolutionary current in South America and his stance in restricting imperialism is tangible.'":
