Klein ISD on the defensive after Mexican flag flap

On Wednesday, a Mexican flag meant to celebrate Cinco de Mayo went missing from Klein Collins High School in Spring. Administrators later learned a student tore it down and threw it in the trash.

Then sophomore Nick Morris went on a local conservative talk radio show to complain he had been suspended.

Now, the boy's interview with KTRH host Michael Berry has gone viral and inflamed conservatives. Frazzled high school administrators are struggling to keep up with an onslaught of angry e-mails and phone calls complaining that the school is partial to Mexico.

I hear the school and leftists in Ann Arbor are miffed that the black field trip story went national.

The story out of California still has me worried. Those 5 boys are NOT safe, they cannot go back to that school. The faculty sounds as if they’d encourage attacks on those kids.

The French were there because the Mexican Government had decided to welch on paying back the money France loaned them.

Yeah and the French lost the battle of Puebla but captured Mexico City and won the war..thus Maximiliano.

Instead of flying the Mexican flag on May 5 to celebrate the victory over the French, why not burn the French flag? That way the Hispanic and non-Hispanic students could unite.

The kid's not a hero. He's a thief.

The kid stole the flag. It was part of a harmless display. His excuse is lame. He was just being mischievous and got caught. I can't believe how gullible everyone is on this.

Let's see, I support Rule of Law, Ordered Liberty, Respect for Private Property, - er uh except if somebody says they defy all of that in the name of Patriotism. This is BS.

There's probably plenty wrong with Klein ISD - but suspending a kid for destroying a school display isnt' one of them.

I understand why the Mexican/Americans are so proud of their Mexican heritage. I mean, what other country has been as Corrupt and backward for over 200 years. This is amazing when you really think about it. How on earth has Mexico gotten by without collapsing?

No place in US taxpayer supported Public schools for display of one other countries flag. We pledge allegiance to what? That is one of the problems with many Mexicans, most do not want to assimilate, just work and take benefits from the US. Civics and Hostory classes must not be doing their job in our schools. Would you hang the flag from another high school during football season there?

Maximilian was an Austrian Habsburg, the younger brother of the Kaiser Franz Joseph, put in place by the French emperor Napoleon III who was really of Italian ancestry. None of it makes much sense. Maximilian should have left with the French troops and gone back to Austria to enjoy his villa outside of Trieste overlooking the Adriatic...instead he was shot.

Pic showed the MX flag on a second floor balcony rail. If school followed usual setup, American flag was posted near entrance, on level 1, outside offices or auditorium. Thus MX flag was on second story, Am flag on first.

Not exactly, but the Klein High School is public property and the flag in question is someone's private property. To contend otherwise is foolish.

So it's not stealing if he thew it away? Perhaps you'd feel differently if they threw your car away. Besides, that's the new story - the original was "We don't know what happened to it." Either way he admits to taking it, it wasn't his, - that's STEALING.

"Keep the Mexican ragflag off of it."

Ok, so you don't support Ordered Liberty, Rule of Law or Private Property - except if the outcome of those principles meets with your liking. That's ok, you can change back to supporting them when someone steals something you like. That's how relativism works right?
