Michelle dropped a spot, to No. 104.
Some 69 boys born in 2009 were named Barack, making it the 1,993rd most popular name for boys. That’s up from No. 2,424 the year before.

Where does the SSA get this information?
I didn't register until my first job (at 16).

Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backward, was the 34th most popular baby name for girls. Heaven came in at No. 275. What would be short for Heaven... Heavy?

If I was looking for a name, I wouldn’t want it to be one of the most popular. I would like to think of something unique.

You have to register them right away so you can get a SSN for the dependent tax deduction.

I wouldn’t get too trendy. Five years down the line, you may regret it.
Somehow, Dylan ans Delaney sound pretty gay, though they were popular names 5-10 years ago.
I stuck with the tried and true names. Can’t go wrong there!

Just thinking of the shear numbers, I can't believe that out of a country of 300+ million people only 69 women named their children Barack. Too be honest that might be kind of a good sign, maybe the African American community isn't as enamored with Obama as we fear. If they don't see much change in their lives in the next 6 years, blacks could turn on him and even the Democratic Party. Hopefully Obama isn't a demagogue yet...

I agree, but there are names that have been around forever and aren’t used too often. My name is Jared and it is from the Bible. I barely ever see people with the name and when I do it is usually spelled in some asinine way like Jarrod or Jered.

You're welcome.

I can’t believe so many people are naming their boys Jayden. It sounds so feminine. They might as well name him Sue.
Last year my daughter named her baby Olivia Sophia. Both are in the girl’s top names. I couldn’t imagine why she wanted to call her Olivia because it sounded so old fashion. But Olivia is a little doll and I can’t imagine her being named anything else now and I love my nickname for her, Livy.
