The AP's David Espo reports that the White House sent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as an emissary to ask Hawaii Sen. Daniel Inouye "to change course" for the sake of the Democratic Party, which has a good chance of losing a special election.
The special election will fill an open House seat, and it's being handled without a primary. Both of the Democrats who want the job are on the ballot against a single Republican, which makes the math a lot harder for the party that's seeing its vote split.
"It's an extremely difficult race, since two Democratic candidates are splitting the vote," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "The local Democrats haven't been able to come together and resolve that, so we'll have to re-evaluate our participation."

Could this really be true? Or is it an attempt to catch Republicans off guard?
Read the entire article; it’s true.
Why?
Special elections in Hawaii are different than general elections. Any candidate who qualifies gets on the ballot, regardless of party. The DemocRATS are split between two well-known candidates and neither is willing to drop out.
If this is the situation then one of those Democrats probably needs some good bodyguards.
They went him to tell Hanabusa to drop out and back Ed Case.
Senators TweendleDan and TweendleDano are backing Hanabusa because Case “disrespected” TweendleDan by daring to run against his ancient circa 1924 butt in the his last primary.
The rats aren’t ditching Hawaii, Case still has chance to win.
