Facebook turns on Sarah Palin
Politico ^ | May 6, 2010 11:38pm | Andy Barr

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina in California's Senate race has prompted a fervent blowback on her Facebook page, long Palin's safe haven for delivering her message.

The revolt is coming from Palin supporters who also back Chuck DeVore – a tea party favorite who is campaigning against Fiorina in the Republican primary.

Palin’s Facebook page is littered with comments opposing her endorsement of Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.

“The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don't need any more of those in [California],” one irate commenter wrote. “Why wouldn't you back Chuck DeVore???”

The impassioned revolt from some of her most faithful supporters prompted Palin to update her post to “add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information.”

In her original post, Palin made no mention of Fiorina’s social views, but in the update Palin touted the former CEO’s opposition to abortion rights.

“Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List,” Palin wrote of Fiorina. “She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.”

“Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment,” she added. “Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners. She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.”

Carly almost tanked HP.

She also moved manufacturing to Kuala Lumpu, Malaysia, costing 10’s of thousands more American jobs. I don’t like who she associates with either.

FAIL

"Others, of course, are OK with it because she is Saint Sarah, and everything she does is right ordained by God since she is the chosen one to lead the world into "the end times", save israel via the nuclear annihilation of it's enemies, initiate armegeddon and usher in the 1000 year reign of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.".

Fixed it.

Knowing that you don’t agree, I believe Palin’s resignation from the governorship was noble, unselfish. It won’t occur when she is POTUS as these types of law suits won’t or can’t originate.

“My bro-in-law who still works at HP had a party after she left. She ran a great company into the ground.”

HP has lots of lefties working for it, just like most other Silicon Valley Corporations.....yeah, I agree, they might have celebrated when Carly resigned.......

I think that a hostile Board of Directors had something to do with that also.....after Carly, they were all asked to resign...... there’s a lot more to that saga then your limited spin would suggest.........

How Mitt doing now a days?

You’re right......

A national figure like Palin should not be taking sides in a primary election.....In the General election? You Bet!

Palin in 2012......she’s still my gal!

Yes she is tied to Mccain.
She did not endorse Marco Rubio because Mccain endorsed Crist.

Anyone who disagrees with Palin here must be a supporter of Mitt Romney - or Ron Paul.

Agree absolutely with all of your points....

Labeling moderate Republems as “Republicans In Name Only” is counterproductive to advancing the conservatism of the right......I’ll take their 80% ACL rating, and work to get them earning a higher score!

Something that is impossible with even a “conservative” Democrat........

Um, yeah, my bro-in-law lives and works in Singapore. A much less ‘leftie’ place you couldn’t find on the face of the earth.

WTF, Mitt? Who the heck is that?

1. Palin did not endorse Marco Rubio because he did not ask her to. He went with Huckabee, Romney, and Jeb Bush. How do I know this? At the SLRC, she went on the record when asked about Rubio, saying “Hey Marco, call me” and made a phone sign near her ear. It had nothing to do with McCain or Crist.

2. JD Hayworth’s your man? Oh, you mean the man who voted for the vast new entitlement expansion known as Medicare Part D? And voted for 2 tax cuts in a time of 2 wars? And who brought home millions of dollars of pork? Sounds like he’ll fit right in with Obama’s spending spree to me.

3. DeVore has had 8 months to move his poll #s above 10%. He has failed to do so. Fiorina is a few points behind Campbell in the latest Rasmussen poll. Campbell is bad news. We need Campbell to not win the Repub nom. Fiorina has a month to make up those few points. It’s doable. DeVore hasn’t moved his #s in 8 months. How will he move them double digits in one month?

"LOL. Somehow the words Palin and California don't mix too well."

You've got it. The vast majority of Californians could care less what Sarah Palin has to say.

If she supported Devore, they might understand based on principle. If she supported Campbell, it would be be based on pragmatism because he has the best chance at beating Boxer -- ironically, for all the reasons that social conservatives don't like him. But Fiorina? Big-government, politics-as-usual, somewhat socially conservative, who'd be just as bad as Babs -- and who is in the middle of the pack. This is just a 2008 campaign IOU paid back -- it's obvious. No one here is getting past Carly's "demon sheep" ad about Campbell -- it was thoroughly demented.

The Book on Carly Granted this was put together by the Campbell campaign, but it is comprised of various writers and authors quotes on Carly re her HP years. The Wicked Witch of the West looks good next to Carly.

Why are you surprised that people that like Palin voice their support for her? (I, for myself, would be surprised if they didn’t...) Yet when they do, you denigrate them as being Obama like supporters, people in search of a Messiah, or some such nonsence.....

People assume that you are a Mitt or Paul supporter because that is a typical tactic of those camps.....If the shoe fits wear it........(If the Fu bird sh*ts wear it...LOLOLOL)

Maybe you should go out and support the candidate of YOUR choice instead of spending your time making comments about a candidate you apparently neither like nor support.....Seems like the positive, Conservative thing to do.......You are a Conservative, aren’t you?

"Employees distributed Hostess Ding Dongs"

"2004 marked the last full year of Carly's tenure. By this point, HP stock had lost half of its value. Dell began to eat away at HP's highly profitable printer business (Elgin, 2005). The business press, which had once lauded Fiorina, began to complain about her lack of operational skills and failure to chart a coherent direction for the company. Employee morale continued to drop. The CEO and her board sparred over appointments to head divisions of the company, plans for further reorganization, and suggestions that she hire a chief operating officer. Issues came to a head in the third quarter when the company badly undershot earnings projections and it looked like Fiorina was sacrificing others to cover for her mistakes. (She fired three executives in a 5 a.m. phone call for failing to meet the numbers.) The board removed Carly in February 2005, providing her with nearly $28 million in severance pay (Loomis & Ryan, 2005). Employees celebrated her departure. At HP's Boise facility, employees distributed Hostess Ding Dongs to announce, 'The witch is dead' (Malone, 2007, p.386)." From the "The rise and fall of Carly Fiorina: an ethical case study" by Craig Johnson

Carly wrecked HP. It has taken years to recover from her “genius”.

Sad.....Once the words Reagan and California went together quite well...........

Now a days its Pelosi and California, or Boxer and California...........

Like I said, sad.....

Update by Sarah on her Facebook page:
Update: I’d like to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information:

Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.

She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners.

She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer. That’s no RINO. That’s a winner.
