Guess who said this: "In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable." Nope, it wasn't Lenny Bruce or George Carlin. It was Comedy Central's head of original programming Kent Alterman, who was defending the network's new animated show, "JC," which centers on (read: mocks) Jesus Christ.
This, of course, is the same Comedy Central that two weeks ago forbade the show "South Park" from even speaking the name of the Muslim prophet Mohammed for fear of offending that faith's followers. So at Comedy Central, apparently, making people uncomfortable by poking fun at their beliefs is fine. Unless those people are Muslims.
This is nothing revelatory -- the double standard has existed at least since the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published depictions of Mohammed, sparking worldwide protests. But Comedy Central's unveiling of "JC" a mere 15 days after a heavily censored "South Park" episode went on air serves to drive home just how absurd and offensive to the values of a free society this double standard is.

No one in this household likes the channels on you list.
When KV is napping and our respite care provider is here I have a not in our home list too.
Family Man is not allowed. We are pro life and the Terri Shiavo episode offended us (as reported by World Report News on EWTN).
The other night after KVs last care shift I took on the dogs grooming/showers (2 Labs and a Dachshand) They are very compliant with the shower mode, the Labs that is.
So anyway I put on a movie per KVs choice PG kinda teenish lame “17 Again”.
I came out of the walk in shower room after dog shower number one and there was an Adult Cable Sex movie on following the movie he was watching.
He had a good laugh at my WTHeck is THIS, OMG expression. (not a prude just find it mega distastefull/offensive from a aged woman christian perspective).
And the music theme was Indian Flute tunes that one would normally hear at a ligitamate massage spa.
A good, standard reply to this is that “Jesus is real, so doesn’t need anyone to defend him. Mohammed was a perverted, murderous insane man, so of course his defenders have to defend him, and threaten anyone who tells the truth about him. It just shows that even they doubt his legitimacy.”
National socialist require a demon and it is a lot easier to demonize one that doesn't fight back.
Don't agree. there is two kinds of respect
Lenin being the originator or modern terrorism with the Red Terror was hated but earned respect by force. Terror does take countries Lenin proved it.
“I believe My Lord and Savior is much to powerful to be worried about some stupid satire on Comedy Central. Is it distasteful and cowardice? Yes, but perhaps somebody will ask the question Who was Jesus, really?. He works in mysterious ways.”
^^This
A crazy guy from the Freedom From Religion Foundation came and spoke at the University that I attend. It really shook the faith of a girl who goes to the BCM, but as a result of having her faith shaken in November, she was saved a few weeks ago.
Our God is a God who saves.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of
righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12~
Jesus is considered a Muslim prophet in Islam....2nd in importance only to Mohamed himself. They even accept the virgin birth...
Of course they reject that He was God’s Son...and they reject that He was crucified or resurrected.
Wonder what Comedy Central would do if an Islamist group warned them not to make fun of their 2nd most important prophet, Jesus?
>The Jesus people will forgive you, and prey for you,
LOL - That’s funny!
Crusades were called to free Christians from Muslims.
How would you put respect of authority through strength?
Or say the Mutual assured destruction we respect(fear) the Russians and the Russians respect (fear) us thus we haven't had a hot direct war.
I’ve only watched two episodes of Seinfeld, so I would not know. But it does sound good if they did!
