Hey I got a repeat visit from a friendly census worker yesterday! Poor kid, looked like he’d been more comfy on the old couch in the basement playing Halo. Real pale, pudgy, unshaven, khaki shorts and a hoodie. Looked about 19 at the most. The name on his ID card looked like it had been written by an 7 yr. old.
Apparently there was a “mix-up” regarding my forms and he had been sent to confirm and straighten this out. (Yeah....riiii-iight.)
I told him my story-that I had sent mine in, after Apr. 1st (because, hey, I ain’t psychic and the question was about people living here as of Apr. 1st.) The store form listed zero people and the home form gave an accurate count. He had to call his supervisor.
Anyway, he insisted that he had to do the form all over again. Began his scripted speil and then I stopped him. Told him it would take less than 10 minutes because all I would tell him is how many folks live here-period. And then I did. I then told him to tell his supervisor that if they send another person out here I would not assist them on inflating the numbers again. That one went over his head.
All in all I felt bad for the kid-he was clearly out of his element and “just following orders”.
LOL. Glenn is yelling again. I hope he doesn’t lose his voice. I had to turn the volume down. :)
