The video of a Columbia, Mo., SWAT team shooting and killing a dog during a drug raid is now available online, due in part to the efforts of the Columbia Daily Tribune.
The video shows members of the Columbia Police Department executing a narcotics raid on the home of Jonathan Whitworth. While the raid, which occurred in February, only turned up a misdemeanor amount of marijuana and a glass pipe, the Columbia PD was able to charge Whitworth with second-degree child endangerment because a child lives in the home. That same child, age 7, was present when the Columbia PD conducted its raid and witnessed the police shoot both family pets a pitbull, which was killed, and a corgi, which was shot in the leg after they had safely entered the home.
Did you shoot my f***ing dog? Whitworth asks in the video. Oh my God, what the fuck did you do that for?
Daily Tribune reporter Brennan David submitted a public information request for the video immediately after the charges were filed in February and was denied because the video was being used in criminal proceedings. I knew that SWAT video was available and that SWAT teams use video. The deputy chief told me that he had watched it a few times, David said.

It's just an, "We kick your ass, and kill your dogs because we have big-gov behind us" attitude.
Take your crack and shove it up your crack.
The police kept saying, “Police. Search Warrant”, Police. Search Warrant”. But, when did the owner EVER get to see the search warrant???
Agree...This is way overkill...Becoming very troublesome.
It sounds like you should be on another forum.
Vengeance would be mine. Shoot my dog for fun and I’ll return the favor in so many ways.
” In any event, there are no repercussions to the police department or its officers directly.”
There seriously needs to be. They have no perosnal stake in the matter. The lawsuits need to go straight to them and let them pay out of their personal bank accounts for the rest of their lives. I don’t think a cop would screw up if his personal checking account was dinged for every penny the guy makes for the rest of his life.
To cops, criminals, or anybody at all...
My dogs are here to protect my daughter. Harm them and I will be forced to assume you intend to harm my daughter. My response will be appropriate since there is no reason for cops to enter my home in such a manner.
Moral of this story? Don’t even think about harming my dogs or my family.
I am shocked that these stories still make the news.
This sort of behavior is so widespread, it shouldn't even be reported anymore.
Of course, if that happens, we will have completed the transformation to a police state.
Part of me says that can't happen. Part of me says bring it on and get it over
Then there would be no cops because they are all trained to shoot the dog.
Fine with me.
Some guy you are defending. In and out of the federal pen on drug charges (typical dealer). Was in court two weeks ago on drug charges. Was charged with leaving the scene of an accident where he caused a multi-car pileup and hit two more cars while trying to get away. Additionally didn’t have any insurance. Also another conviction for drunken driving.
Could you post that information/link?
Thanks!
just your typical cocaine dealer ....
“Four co-defendants who pled guilty to participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana in Boone County will be sentenced: Joseph Blair Nardi (Columbia, MO, 10 a.m.), Jonathan Eric Whitworth (Columbia, MO, 11 a.m.), David Scott Steinbruegge (St. Peters, MO, 1 p.m.), and Robertson Blake Alexander (Columbia, MO, 2 p.m.)”

From the sounds of it, they had to shoot the Corgi more than once, because it was screaming in pain for awhile before you heard more gunshots.
Heartless animals. I’m talking about the SWAT animals, not the family’s dogs.
Seems like your guy has a thing for the F* word ...
In the end, six cars were damaged and a man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Neighbors on Southampton Drive woke early Friday to the sound of a car crash in their front yard.
Nickels, of 732 Southampton Drive, woke around 1 a.m. to the sound of a car crashing outside her home. She said she rushed outside to find Roberts car a few feet from her front door, having apparently been pushed there after the truck crashed into a van in the driveway and pushed it into Roberts car.
Roberts was getting ready to take his dog out before going to bed when he heard the crash. When I heard it, I rushed outside and came out right about the same time my neighbor did, he said.
Roberts said he was outside in time to see a Ford F-250 truck back into another vehicle parked on the property and drive over the gravel driveway partition.
In the process, the van, which had been thrown several feet across the lawn, was pushed into another car, Roberts said. Still another car was pushed into a tree at the northwest corner of Roberts home, he said.
By then, the truck was trapped on the driveway by three of the damaged cars.
Roberts said his primary concern immediately after the accident was finding out if the driver was OK.
We asked him to stop, and he said, F you before hitting two more cars, Roberts said.
