he frustration with the federal government's failure to deal with the issue of illegal immigration resulted in passage of a flawed state law. However intended, the result of passing this law is that our basic principles of equal rights and protection under the law are being called into questions, and Arizona's already struggling economy will suffer even further setbacks at a time when the state can ill-afford them."
The NBA Players Association is onboard, as is San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who said they would play as "Los Spurs" but couldn't get custom road jerseys made by tonight's Cinco de Mayo tip.

Los Dumbasses
Surprised here. The Spurs owner is a solid Republican.
How about shirts that say “THE ALAMO”
What a bunch of idiots. Do they not realize that the majority of their fan base is AGAINST illegal immigration? Of course, the NBA is mostly just a club for thugs, so it is no surprise they’d be in favor of supporting other law-breakers.
How about Los Caballeros for the Cavaliers?
I respect your view, but it isn’t the Mexicans that are the problem here, it is the illegal immigrants who come into this country that are the problem. I have a lot of Mexican friends who are here legally and a few are conservative, they feel the same way you do about this stuff, it’s a disgrace, and there are Latinos that object to it.
I have always laughed at how David Stern requires these thugs to wear suits and coats - even if they are on the injured list.
Yet when they strip off their warm-ups and get on the floor to play...
The tattoos and body graffiti is enough to make an MS-13 gangbanger envious.
My thoughts and sentiments exactly, a bunch of overpaid, overhyped, ‘mostly African-American’ athletes shilling for illegal immigrants? NOT! These guys don’t give a left nut about ‘immigration reform’.
He’s a Vietnam vet too. I look forward to what he has to say regarding Coach Pop getting side-tracked from winning a series to politicking about the Arizona immigration laws.
Hope he lets Pop have both barrels. In public.
I reminded them that Illegal is NOT a race but something against the law.
I really don't get this. How is checking someone's status calling into question any basic principle?
Seems to me it solidifies the basic principle - the rule of law.
It just doesn't make sense what they're saying - how is it bad to check someone's status? Seriously - I want to know how they think so...
Have the Suns made any statements?
Time to watch something else...or read a good book...or go for a walk.....or paint....or just relax.
To hell with the NBA and all it's sponsors.
If the team supports illegal immigration, they should stop requiring a ticket to enter the arena.
I just googled. Steve was my favorite. Now I will watch to see which sponsors to complain to.
“Have the Suns made any statements?”

I thought THEY were the ones who initiated this ignorant idea of supporting lawlessness.
[Sarver said the state passed a flawed state law that called into question Arizona’s principles of equal rights and protection under the law.]
I am surprized Sarver is a Constitutional scholar. Hooda thunk it!
Thank you! Someone finally said what I was waiting for.
Los Estimulos!
One, this is pandering.
Two, it still manages to insult Spanish speaking folks.
Three, why give up the high ground? Americans do watch basketball too. Ugh. :(
Shame on Pop.
