An oil refinery just southeast of downtown San Antonio is on fire.
The fire started at the AGE Refinery on South Presa, following an explosion. Large black plumes of smoke can be seen spilling into the skies above San Antonio.
The plant is located near Mission San Juan on Military Dr. and Presa.
AGE Refining, Inc., is based out of San Antonio. They refine several specialized petroleum products, including jet fuel and diesel. The company was founded in 1991.
There is at least one burn victim, according to initial reports.
Our sister station, KENS 5, has a crew on the way.
Yeah, just another reason to vote them out of office...
And the energy efficient label.....
A coal mine, an oil rig and a refinery!
Oh my!
(Sorry. Couldn’t resist.)

18-wheeler explodes at San Antonio refinery
SAN ANTONIO — An 18-wheeler being loaded with fuel at a San Antonio refinery has exploded.
Television stations showed footage Wednesday of an enormous black plume spewing from the AGE Refining Inc. unit on the city’s southeast side.
Refinery marketing director Jeff Morrow says the truck exploded late Wednesday morning at the facility that refines gas and jet fuel, but he had no other details.
San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood told KENS-TV that the fire had spread to the refining facility, and authorities were trying to assess whether neighbors should be evacuated.
We had an explosion at the Redstone Arsenal here in this area this morning as well.
Kinda strange, no?
This sounds more like an accident than a deliberate act.
Prove it. Unlike Nosehair's car bomb, any evidence is melted or at the bottom of the Gulf.
While crude, diesel/jet fuel are flamable, it certainly takes a whole lot of things being just right for an explosion when they are not aspirated. Why is the hair standing up on the back of my neck?
It will be if the drivers name is Abdul Mostafa Gaga Ali Baba
yah... just heard that. Exploded as it was being put on some sort of rack to be loaded. That seems to indicate that the tanker was empty...? Curious.

DAMN people, this is a dangerous industry, shi$ happens all the time, most of you just don't pay attention.
According to WOAI radio, the initial explosion was a tanker containing octane, which is very flammable. That’s all it would take to get the rest of any available fuel burning. They crack off octane and such for solvents (naphtha, etc.). Now, had it been Valero in Three Rivers, - that would be far worse.
Very dangerous industry. That is why refinery workers are well-paid.
Thank You, I needed that!!
Empty ‘cept for the something packed into the tanker maybe?
oDumbo will address the issue around 12 days from now.
Anytime you need a smart a$$ just ask! ;-0
