While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions theyve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years.
While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions theyve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years.
BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the companys political action committees $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.
On top of that, the oil giant has spent millions each year on lobbying including $15.9 million last year alone as it has tried to influence energy policy.

If this was President Bush......
* sound of crickets from the MSM *
Rush talking about this now!
Rush is reading this now.
So Barack Hussein Obama is going easy on his oil buddies.
Fascism lives...and Democrats are “for the little guy”. Wonder if the little guy will ever realize that he’s just an indentured serf that has been duped with stale old bread crumbs.
WHOA! I can hear the heads exploding at HuffPo and Daily Kos from 3000 miles away...
Funny how those required details of campaign donations can come back to haunt you, eh?
Just like Goldman Sachs. The corporation bought off Obama and then he pretends to look tough by “going after them” when he is in bed with them.
Now Obama’s latest tale of opening up areas for drilling makes sense. Loading up the coffers for the next election
Classic. The revolving door into a high bureaucratic job in the executive branch leads to the boardrooms of the largest corporations and vice versa. The “elites” who inhabit these realms share the same desire to dominate and manipulate the hoi polloi for their own amusement/profit. The ideologues get to try out their favorite theories so long as these don’t disrupt the movement from “private” to “public” positions of power and the right people continue to profit.
The Republicans need to hit the rats over the head with this in the 2010 elections. They all got tons Goldman Sachs and BP money. Also, hedge fund managers donated 98% to the rats.
That’s why O will screw BP even more than required with demands for cleanup and compensation.
He ought to give it back.
A true example of Shirley’s Law. Surely, these cynical bastards deserve the government they helped to put into office.
A fool corporation and it’s money are soon parted.
